College Football Rankings: 3 SEC Teams That Are Sitting Ducks
You can see the writing on the wall.
Just because a team is ranked doesn’t mean they aren’t incredibly vulnerable—whether it be because they’re playing another ranked team, have a tough road game, or are just plain overrated.
Losses are a rarity in the SEC, but this weekend there are multiple teams in danger this week.
Here are three SEC teams that are poised to fall this weekend:
No. 25 Mississippi State vs. No. 3 LSU
Losing to Auburn was a tough pill to swallow for the Bulldogs. The were gashed by the run and let the Tigers control the tempo.
Expect QB Jordan Jeffries and the rest of the Tigers offense to revolve around the run and watch the LSU defense bring the heat.
Hope you enjoyed being ranked Bulldogs.
No. 21 Auburn @ Clemson
The Tigers have been living by the seat of their pants for the entire season, but the magic carpet ride is about to come to an end.
The Tigers now have to leave the friendly confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium to head to a hostile Clemson environment. The Tigers defense has been extremely rough, giving up 531 yards last week.
Expect a prolific Clemson offense that already averages 39 points a game to torch the tigers and knock them out of the polls.
No. 16 Florida vs. Tennessee
The Gators have won six straight in the series but this one is going to be a toss-up.
Through two weeks of the 2011 season, we don't know a whole lot about either team, but we do know that Tennessee can let the pigskin fly.
Tyler Bray has averaged 349 yards a game thus far and has a SEC-high seven TDs. Florida's secondary has yet to be tested and it’s still hard to predict how they can defend such an explosive offense.
On offense the Gators have been extremely vanilla as QB John Brantley is still working to get comfortable in Charlie Weis' pro-style offense. If the Gators can't put pressure on Bray, he will pick the Florida D apart and hand the Gators their first loss of the season.
