WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow Recap: 5 Best Moments from Last Night's Show
The WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow was in full effect last night, and Bleacher Report is here to break down the five best moments from the show.
Right off the bat, let me say that the go-home show for Night of Champions failed to impress, and that coming up with five "best" moments was no easy task.
So, before you say, "But Kaleb, these moments sucked," keep in mind that they're relative to the moments that happened to night, not the vast amount of far better moments that have happened in the past.
Tonight's key moment was a "final face-off" between Triple H and CM Punk before their bout at Night of Champions, but how does it stack up to the rest of the show? Find out in the following slides, and let us know what your top five moments of the night look like in the comment section!
The Universal Sigh When Raw Went off the Air
1 of 5Just when we thought WWE was looking to get focused by removing Kevin Nash and mysterious text messages from the picture, we got a night like last night.
Considering that not only was last night the go-home show for Night of Champions, but the first Monday night of the NFL season, fans were expecting a show that built interest, and kept us moderately entertained.
Last night was far from what any optimistic fan could have been expecting.
The matches were mostly bland, the WWE Championship match for Night of Champions was pumped up by using a Bret Hart/John Cena team, and the "final face-off" between Triple H and CM Punk wasn't all that.
When the show went off the air, I was relieved that next week should be better, but I've learned to not get my hopes up.
The Miz and R-Truth Continue to Be the Hottest Tag Team on the Mic
2 of 5At Night of Champions, The Miz and R-Truth will get their shot against "Air Boom" for the WWE Tag Team Championship, and they've earned it by quality mic work.
The Miz hasn't been, and isn't becoming, a full blown comedy heel, but he can be humorous.
R-Truth is a comedy heel, and he's one of the best in recent memory.
Together they are the "Awesome Truth", or so the fans have dubbed them. One can only hope they avoid taking that name, because it's nearly as bad as "Air Boom".
Last night wasn't their strongest night, but they were still entertaining.
During their promo, The Miz insisted that the conspiracy was still in full effect, despite being granted the title shot. R-Truth chimed in, saying he respected Triple H's decision. The Miz, like us fans were thinking, asked, "Really?"
R-Truth replied with, "Ninja please!" Then clarified that he meant a "Hiyaaaah!" ninja.
After the promo, The Miz beat Kofi Kingston in singles action, building hype towards the showdown between the two teams at Night of Champions.
WWE Remembers 9/11
3 of 5Ten years ago, the WWE went live after 9/11, and paid tribute to America during a time of mourning.
Tonight, the WWE rolled a segment paying tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11, and all of those effected by the attacks that took place that day.
John Cena narrated the clip, and dare I say, he nailed it.
No doom and gloom, all hope and perseverance. Just how it should be.
Cody Rhodes Beats Randy Orton in the Champion vs. Champion Main Event
4 of 5You read that headline right, Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton in Raw's main event.
The match wasn't anything special, as it was even less competitive than their first match last week on SmackDown, but with Mark Henry looming outside of the ring this time.
When Henry finally went to enter the ring, Rhodes removed his mask, and blasted Orton with it.
Rhodes followed up with the Cross Rhodes, and got the three count.
After the match, Henry attacked Orton with a steel chair, and taunted him before leaving the ring.
It'd be nice for the mask to stay off, but that's probably too much to hope for.
CM Punk's Final Face-off with Triple H Turns into a Philosophical Debate
5 of 5With Kevin Nash, text messages, and snarky wife jokes set aside, WWE COO Triple H went face to face one last time with CM Punk before Night of Champions.
Come to find out, they didn't have a whole lot to talk about.
It quickly became a debate on "getting over" in the WWE, with Punk questioning the mentality held by WWE higher ups about how only those with a body builder physique can main event, or be legitimate.
Triple H accused Punk of making excuses, and noted that John Cena had to work hard to get to where he is.
Although the bickering seemed to lack direction, there were quality lines throughout.
Finally, it came down to who was going to kick who's ass at Night of Champions, and Punk prepared to unload one final tirade, saying that he wasn't talking "CM Punk to Triple H" but "Phil Brooks to Paul Levesque".
At the mention of "shoot names" Punk's mic was cut, then Triple H's mic was cut when given to Punk.
Punk took one final mic, with Triple H telling him to "lay the pipe bomb" on him. Punk paused, then floored Triple H, hitting him with the mic, and thus ending the show.
