Duke Basketball: How Far Are Fans Willing to Go for Shabazz Muhammad's Services?
A fan is willing to name his first child after Shabazz Muhammad, if he commits to play for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.
Muhammad, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the class of 2012, revealed this after Jason Jordan asked him what the craziest things fans were willing to do to get him to stay in Las Vegas were.
It seems that up to 200 fans normally show up to the 6'6" wing player's high-school practices wearing Runnin' Rebels jerseys with Muhammad's number and name on the back.

Then there is the social media aspect, where a fan contacted Muhammad with an offer to name his child after the local product.
People have long named their children after their sporting idols. It's not strange that there are kids recently with the previously unusual name of Shaquille or Kobe. Michael Jordan and Larry Bird have their share of people named after them, too.
Someday, the name LeBron will be prevalent among high school children.
However, naming a child after a high school player is probably new territory. Antics like this seem to be making a mark on the recruit, according to Jordan.
Duke may be a long shot to land this recruit, but they still have a chance. The Blue Devil's are currently on his short list of schools.
Kentucky, UCLA and Kansas are reportedly still in the mix for Muhammed's service, too.
I can't help but wonder if any Duke fan would be willing to go a step further and name several of their kids in an attempt to lure this talented player to Durham.
Oh, why bother with naming a kid after this guy! Just rename yourself in dedication.
