WWE News: Lance Storm Negotiating a New Developmental Deal
It looks as if former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion, Lance Storm, is negotiating a return to the WWE...but not in a wrestling capacity. Lance currently runs the Storm Wrestling Academy which develops new talents from Canada and is looking at starting a partnership with his former employers.
In an interview with Arda Ocal and Jimmy Kordeas for Aftermath, Storm revealed that:
“I’ve had all kinds of different levels of talks for quite a while. We’ve just never managed to figure out how to make it work. There’s always been on going conversation. I think they hope I cave in and move to Florida. I think it makes sense to have a developmental territory in Canada. Before Deep South I talked to Vince about it. I’d like to be involved with that level again with WWE.”

I think Lance Storm has a point. Why should WWE only have one developmental territory going at one time? The likelihood of every promising talent being discovered is slim when everyone is expected to go to one place. After all, Florida is a lot further away for some than others.
If WWE really wants to start working the World part of their name, they should begin to invest in international training schools. Both Sheamus and Wade Barrett have stated on regular occasions that the training schools in Britain are not up to the standards required to make big names out of their students.
Considering the talent that has emerged from Canada over the years I think the first step would be to make a deal with Lance Storm's academy. After all, even if WWE has no faith in other companies developing talent they surely must have faith in Lance Storm.
Currently five of his students have been signed by WWE. One of these is Dolph Ziggler, who was trained from scratch. His training techniques emulate the great system of the Hart family. Considering the success of Stu Hart's dungeon there are worse systems to use.
WWE have been presented with a prime opportunity. Hopefully they will not pass it up.
