Mike the Situation: Tom Izzo Caught Slumming It with Jersey Shore's Situation

There goes the neighborhood. 

The Michigan State Spartans welcomed two undeserving entities into Spartan Stadium on Saturday. One made them feel good about the state of affairs of Spartans football. The other will have them shaking their head in embarrassment for a few days. 

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was present to see Michigan State demolish the second less than deserving item of note, the Florida Atlantic Owls. 

SportsTop tweeted a picture of Sorrentino getting cozy with esteemed Michigan State basketball head coach, Tom Izzo. 

In one magnificent photo opportunity, we had a coach that has delivered one NCAA title and six Final Fours to the Spartans carousing with a man that has made a name for having famous abs. 

It is hard to tell which is the most famous part of Sorrentino, the abs, the heavily-styled hair or his way with the ladies. 

Whatever he lays claim to his fame, it is not of the same ilk as Tom Izzo's. In fact, Sorrentino shouldn't be caught in the same stadium as Izzo. Yet there he was, being honored as if he was a celebrity of note. 

Granted, he is a celebrity, but of very little note. According to MLive.com, The Situation was in Lansing to tape a web series for a web series on YOBI.tv.  

Sorrentino is the face of the ever popular reality show Jersey Shore. The series demands that you tune off your brain for a half-hour and welcome in the dregs of society into your home as the gallivant in their own mind-numbing world. 

According to Guyism, Sorrentino paid his own way into the game, which allows me to give him a modicum of respect for having love for a powerful football program. 

Despite my misgivings for Jersey Shore, I have to hand it to Sorrentino, he knows how to have a good time. There is nothing better to do in Lansing then take in a Spartans football game. 

For a brief moment, two men on the polar opposites of reputation shared an embrace. Izzo is the face of a proud basketball program, one he helped resurrect and place in the upper echelon of the sport.

Sorrentino is the image of depravity for the millions that can't get enough of the zany characters on Jersey Shore.

On Saturday, we saw that college football can be a common ground for all types of people.
