Dallas Mavericks, Getting It Done In Charlotte.
Yeah yeah, I know, its only the Charlotte Bobcats. But when your still shaky as a team, you welcome a "gimme."
Mavericks fans should thank the schedule god for this game. The one thing we needed was an easy win.
This win wasn't as exciting as Mark Cuban's drama with the SEC, but I'm sticking with the game.
Rick Carlisle showed consistency by utilizing the new Mavs for the second game in a row. Good move, knowing we play the Houston Rockets tomorrow night.
Gerald Green started at the two-guard. James Singleton got some minutes behind Dampier. Shawne Williams also got into the action tonight. All three left their mark on the game in a good way.
Looks like these new guys are starting to find their place here.
Dallas led all the way, 28-10 after the first quarter. Charlotte missed their first nine shots before getting on the board with five minutes remaining in the quarter.
At the half, Dallas built an impressive 55-35 lead.
The Mavs were able to keep the Bobcats at bay, ending the third with a 74-58 lead.
The dreaded fourth showed some inklings of old bad habits for the Mavs, as Charlotte was able to cut the lead to 11 at one point. That made Carlisle have to play Dirk, Kidd, and Howard deep into the quarter.
But my Mavs didn't let me down! Yes, it's in stone. Mavs win 100-83.
Jason Terry was definitely the sixth man tonight, scoring 15 points off the bench, shooting 6-14 from the field.
Josh Howard went 9-15 from the field, scoring 21 points.
Jason Kidd scored only two points, hitting a jumper late in the fourth. But he still notched 10 assists and pulled down five rebounds.
High scorer for the Mavs was none other than the "Big German," Dirk Nowitzki. Making his fifth 30+ point game this season, and his second in a row. Dirk was 10-21 from the floor, and 10-11 from the charity stripe, totaling 32 points. He also nabbed nine rebounds.
I'm not saying everything is fixed with the Mavs, they still had lapses in the fourth. But this is a start that is beginning to look good. For us Mavs fans, we'll take it.
Guess this shows you really do have to hit bottom before you go up.
No time for the team to celebrate tonight, though. Next stop is Houston and the banged up Rockets.
No "gimmes" there.
