Now We're Down to Two Cinderella's in Week 11
The end of week 10 saw two Cinderella's still in play for the glass slipper, uh, I mean crystal trophy. The shoe ended up not fitting for Penn State so fickle fate moved on.
Yes I know there are people at Utah, Boise State, and even Ball State who are screaming for a fitting too, but these ugly step sisters will not be given a chance. In the end, there will be only one title winner.
The fact that there have been so many contenders and pretenders for so long has added to this year's college football excitement. For Alabama, it marks a return to the ball it has been absent from for so long. For Texas Tech, it's their first time to have a chance to peek through the doors and see what it's all about.
Both teams have "Godfathers," in the form of their head coaches, instead of fairy Godmothers and it appears that Alabama's has a slight edge with Nick Saba; Saban has already taken one team to the ball and left with the prize. Saban says he has enough magic for a few more trips.
Mike Leach, on the other hand, sort of looks like the original Cinderella's Godmother. Take a look at the two right next to each other; it's really kind of scary. Leach, like Saban, will need all the magic he can muster to finish undefeated.
Then, there are all the one loss wonders out there who claim the shoe best fits them. Now evil step sisters, you had your chance at being perfect and you blew it. After all, shouldn't the glass slipper go to someone who embodies perfection?
So, entering week 11, the music grows louder and the crowd is buzzing in anticipation of crowning a Belle of the Ball.
Can either Alabama or Texas Tech get there before the clock strikes midnight? Both have had to use a little magic to get this far toward the ballroom already. If both get there, which Cinderella will you pull for?
When you get to week 11 and you're still perfect, it's hard to just to show up and dance at the BCS ball without leaving with the whole fairy tale intact and the prize on your foot, or in your hands.
Both still have tough roads to navigate to get there. Alabama must pass through the land of Tim Tebow, who covets the prize for himself. Texas Tech must travel through the heart of Oklahoma, who still thinks the shoe would best fit them.
Stay tuned sports fans; this ball is going to turn into a brawl before it's over. Disney may not have envisioned it this way, but I'm sure all the old ball coaches in heaven are looking down and are happy.
