Not since Jeff Mills graced the court at Unioto High School has Southern Ohio seen an outside threat like Travis Everhart.

Everhart, a starting guard for Adena High School, recently ended his career where he finished ranking second all-time in scoring at his school, coming just nine points short of the historic 1,000 point mark.

According to Everhart’s coach, Mike MacFarland, “Everhart has been a force for us all season. Not just on the court, but off the court as well. He has really helped the younger players develop their skills.”

Adena’s record books were rewritten during Everhart’s tenure at the school as he finished first all time in three pointers made, also breaking the Scioto Valley Conference record in that category, with 178 shots made from beyond the arc.

Coach MacFarland added, “One thing I could count on all season was that Everhart could hit the big shot from behind the arc. I knew if I could find some way to isolate him out there, he could score us some points.”

Everhart was by no means a one sided player, as he was also very affective on the defensive end. His prowess on that end of the floor no doubt helped him be receive various post-season honors including being named to the First Team All-SVC, First Team All Southeastern-District and Second Team All-State in Division III.

When asked about his success, Everhart was candid, claiming, “Well, I have to say, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. They’re the ones who found me for a lot of those points and some of them deserve the honors just as much as I do.”

Everhart showed improvement for his coach during the three seasons he played on the varsity squad, earning more playing time as he became more familiar with Adena’s system.

During his sophomore year, Everhart appeared in 15 games, scoring 282 points. During his junior season, he played in 21 games and netted 322 points.

His senior season was really his coming out party though, as he started all 21 games, scoring 387 points with an average of 18.4 per game.

As a three sport athlete Everhart claims he enjoyed his time at Adena and the various coaching staffs he worked with, “Really helped me grow as a player and a person.”

The guard finished his career with a 17.4 average in 57 varsity contests.

Everhart, who also made news during his football career at Adena, claims that he will be attending Capital University in the fall where he will play both football and baseball.
