UFC News: Dana White Discusses Long-Term Goals and Injury-Plauged Cards
This year has taken its toll on UFC President Dana White.
Whether it's the acquisition of rival promotion Strikeforce or the recent injury woes to current UFC fighters, it is safe to say that the UFC's boss' job isn't going to get any easier throughout the rest of the year.
In an exclusive interview with SportsIllustrated.com, White spoke about the recent injuries that affected certain cards within the past year.

"It's the biggest streak we've ever had, but these guys train so hard in this sport," White said.
"All these different disciplines, plus they have to do all their cardiovascular and weight training and everything, you know, guys are bound to get hurt."
Along with the recent injuries, White also said he is not too happy about the current direction the company is heading in and is looking to gain some control over the next couple of months. White added that while they have travelled all over the country to promote various UFC events, he hasn't had time to reflect and implement any significant changes into their product.
It's a goal that White intends to achieve in the near future, which he believes will be benefit the company, overall.
"I'm going to get some more control around here in the next three months. And that includes my business as a whole, my actual office and employees and departments, right down to s--- that's going on with the fighters," he said.
Among other topics, White also discussed the UFC's acquisition of Strikeforce, which they bought out earlier this year. Since acquiring the promotion, fans and critics assume it is only a matter of time before the UFC buyout some of the promotion's top fighters and ultimately merge the rest of the talent into the organization. In addition, the UFC has already acquired fighters like Nick Diaz and Jason Miller.
But despite his admiration for certain fighters, White said he has no involvement regarding Strikeforce.
"It's absolutely zero. I wanted nothing to do with it, didn't want to touch it with a 10-foot pole," he said.
"So I've literally not done anything. I have nothing to do with the Strikeforce piece of this thing, and it's basically been, Lorenzo's been working on it with some of the people here that work for us at the UFC."
