"Enough Is Enough": The Path Towards Destruction
Collegiate sports have gained in popularity over the years.
The professional sports world became filled with greed and arrogance, and people have slowly lost interest. And as recent news has shown, the game of college football is taking a turn for the worse.
As most of us already know, the NCAA has an ongoing investigation into Willie Lyles and the football programs he supplied recruitment material for. Among them are LSU, Oregon, and Cal.
Some were given stolen video, others written data compilations of players. They all received something.
This showcases the grey area in recruitment services and the regulations that the NCAA has yet to crack down on.
If it isn’t illegal and you need top recruits to stay competitive in the BCS standings, would you do it? Everyone else is, right?
What this boils down to is the NCAA not constructing regulations that define the violations that these universities and Lyles committed.
I imagine the schools that were victims or accessories, depending on your opinion, will get a slap on the wrist. As fans and supporters, we can only hope the NCAA will pass new regulations and will instill more strict guidelines regarding the recruiting process.
In addition, the programs and athletes are not the only people that should be held accountable for their actions. The boosters, the agents, and the so called “recruiting services” need to be held liable.
By making these new regulations into rules for everyone involved, offenders would be risking offending the legal system. And maybe the result will be that people aren't willing to take the risk.
