NBA Edition: Top 25 Players 25 Or Under
Soon to come out for the MLB and possibly NFL offense and defense.
There's a lot of young talent in basketball. Many future superstars and some players who are superstars already. Please note that I did not put rookies on here. Here's the list of the best of them:
1. LeBron James: This doesn't even call of an explanation. LeBron has already established himself as one of the top two players in the game, maybe even the best. His only flaws are man defense and mid-range shots, but his defense has progress and his mid-range shot is drained when zone defense is played. Leading a team to the finals at 22, LeBron rightfully deserves this stop.
2. Chris Paul: Chris Paul may have the most complete game in basketball. Paul is a great ballhandler who is better than anyone at making decisions in traffic. Paul can shoot the ball and guard practically anyone. It's a point guard's game and Paul is the best of them.
3. Deron Williams: The best passer in the NBA. The Jazz get more out of everyone on their roster when D-Will is in the game. Deron can pass the ball from anywhere and shoot it himself when he can't find a shot for others. A pass-first point guard who shoots .395 3 PT and .508 FG.
4. Dwight Howard: Howard is the best rebounder and dunker in basketball. Once he develops post moves, look out. Despite having no range, Dwight still had a higher FG % than Yao Ming last season. His size overpowers many in the interior on both ends of the court. Dwight Howard is the most dominant center in basketball.
5. Amare Stoudemire: Stoudemire has been a defensive liablility, but may be the most athletic center in basketball. Finished in the top five in ppg three years in a row. Nash's passing is what the Suns have built around, but with the core of the Suns aging, Stoudemire is the future.
6. Chris Bosh: The best lefty in the NBA creates some awkward matchups for most defenses. Bosh is still a bit raw on offense, but has developed great shot selection, which is the best aspect of his game. Bosh is a great passer and a solid defender.
7. Brandon Roy: Roy has a great all-around game. Great shooter, passer, and a rebounder for a guard. Solid defender with the potential to become better. The Trailblazers have more young talent than anyone and Roy is the best they've got.
8. Andre Iguodala: Iggy is solid at everything. He can pass, play defense, shoot from mid-range, etc. He's made the 76er's forget about Allen Iverson rather easily.
9. Carmelo Anthony: Melo is a great mid-range shooter and an average rebounder, but there are still many flaws to his game. Nonetheless, he's one of the NBA's best scorers although he needs to take his team past the first round or fans will think less of him.
10. Josh Smith: Smith would be a star if he knew how to dribble, but he's a great fit with the Hawks, who have many great ballhandlers. Contender for defensive player of the year, but is also extremely athletic.
11. Rudy Gay: Gay needs to be more unselfish. He's not used to having great players around him like at UConn. Gay still knows how to find his own shot even without players to take coverage off him.
12. Al Jefferson: Big Al has some of the most impressive post skills in basketball. He's a great rebounder. Very underrated, but doesn't play great interior defense and can't guard centers well.
13. Al Horford: Horford is one of the most athletic centers in the league and that's how he's done so well with so little size. Averaged close to a double-double as a rookie and his defense saved the Hawks.
14. Andrew Bynum: I know there will be Laker fans who will kill me for putting him below Al Horford, but Horford has been good for half a year longer than Bynum. Bynum was dominant in limited time leading the league in FG % and playing great defense. The Lakers were great last year even before Gasol and that's because Bynum stepped up his game.
15. Kevin Durant: Durant's rookie year reminded me of LeBron's. He was able to find his own shot and rebound. He will soon be a great defender because of his size, similar to Tayshaun Prince.
16. Kevin Martin: Martin is extremely underrated. He was sixth in ppg last season and is still raw in some aspects such as defense. Drastically improved as a passer and rebounder as the Kings best player.
17. Devin Harris: Harris has thrived against the slower Eastern Conference. As the NBA's fastest player, Harris can make decisions quickly. He's a great passer with great ranger and defense. Possible all star candidate.
18. Monta Ellis: Once Ellis comes back from suspension, he should thrive off of smaller players guarding him. Ellis is a great shooter and ballhandler. He may struggle without Baron Davis to help him, but Ellis could become a star.
19. Danny Granger: Granger will carry the full load on the Pacers for the first time in his career. His size advantage has given him high defensive potential and he's a great scorer. A great rebounder for a swingman.
20. Andrew Bogut: Don't give up on the former #1 overall pick. Bogut has improved in post play and rebounding every season, averaging close to a double-double. Great interior passer as well.
21. LaMarcus Aldridge: Aldridge is an athletic freak with size. The perfect makeup of a superstar. Aldridge is an intelligent player in the post and his defense was as good as any 22 year old's.
22. Luol Deng: Deng was one of Chicago's only consistent players last season. Deng has developed decent range for someone his size and plays good defense in the post. Not one of the more athletic players of small forwards, but has become very smart.
23. Ben Gordon: Gordon is one of the best shooters in the game. He's great at changing the tempo, but needs to play better defense to be the best 6th man in basketball.
24. Raymond Felton: Felton hasn't developed an NBA three pointer yet, but if his shooting reverts to college form, he could be an all-star. Plays great man defense and is one of the best young passers in the game.
25. David Lee: Lee is one of the few Knicks who are worth having. Lee averaged close to a double-double and is athletic enough for the run and gun system. D'Antoni named Lee the well deserving starter over Curry.
