Trent Richardson: Alabama Crimson Tide Running Back Victim of Hit-and-Run
Trent Richardson Victim of Hit-and-Run
Very early this morning, Alabama Crimson Tide running back Trent Richardson was a victim of a hit-and-run. Around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to a call reporting someone fleeing the scene of an accident.
Don't worry, though, Tide fans. Your Heisman-hopeful running back is OK, according to the Birmingham News. Here’s the release from the Tuscaloosa Police Department on the accident:
""Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to a Leaving the Scene Of An Accident/ Menacing Call that occurred at 1:30 am this morning (06/30/11) in the 2300 Block of 4th Street. Trent Richardson was the victim in the incident. A citation was issued for the leaving the scene of an accident.
Mr. Richardson declined prosecution on the Menacing Charge, and the case has been closed. No further details will be released."
"
You can't blame him for not wanting to press charges because this matter doesn't need to be extended any further. It is over and done with, and luckily, nobody was hurt.
The junior running back is the focal point for the Crimson Tide's offense this year, taking over for former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram. Thankfully, Richardson is OK, because the Tide cannot afford to lose him.
Last season, the 5'11", 220-pound running back rushed for 700 yards and scored six touchdowns on only 112 carries. Crimson Tide fans expect his carries to double this year and for him to be among the top rushers in the country.
He is a preseason Heisman candidate, and early in the season, he will get a chance to prove his worth. We've seen what is he is capable of, and now that he is the main back at Alabama, we are certainly in for a show.
Many folks believe that Alabama will be competing for a national championship this year, and it is Richardson who will be leading the way. Tide fans can relax and be thankful their star is OK.
