NFL's Week 9 Picks
The7-0 Titans can guarantee themselves of a winning season with two morewins in their next nine games, and seem to have all but a first roundbye and home field advantage in the books if they continue their torridwinning pace.
I went 9-5 last week, (underestimating theGiants’ splendid road record of the past two years and also buying intothe trend that a new coach in San Francisco could bring a win), and myoverall record stands at 74-42 for a .638 percentage clip.
Now, I will analyze the top-5 games (In my opinion) of the NFL’s Week 9, as well as the rest of the games.
New York Jets (4-3) at Buffalo (5-2):This is a huge game for both teams. The Bills started 4-0 but have losttwo of their last three games with their sole win being over thestruggling Chargers.
The Jets have actually won three of theirlast four games, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. They played averageagainst the Bengals and looked lost the last two weeks, beating thelowly Chiefs 28-24 and losing to a very poor Oakland team 16-13 in OTthe week before. They haven’t played very well since the Cardinalsgame.
Buffalo is a tough place to play this year, as the Billsare 3-0 there. One nice thing for them has been hosting Seattle,Oakland, and San Diego. This is their first opponent that won’t betraveling across the country to face them.
The Bills have donewell this season in pass defense, ranking 13th in the NFL, but haveonly four picks, which ranks tied for sixth fewest in the NFL.Furthermore, the Bills rank only 22nd in rushing yards gained and theJets rank fourth against the run. The key is going to be whether theBills 12th ranked passing attack can exploit the Jets 23rd ranked passdefense, and whether Brett Favre can stop throwing the ball to theother team.
This is a game between two teams not playing theirbest football at the moment. I reluctantly like the...
