Transfer Rumors: Best Goals from Chelsea's Top Targets
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is well known for throwing cash in order to get the best players possible. With that attitude the transfer window at Stamford bridge is usually a hectic and speculative time. This summer is no different.
With Andre Villas-Boas now in charge, the tactics and attitude of the clubhouse are expected to undergo some major renovations. These changes will require the Portuguese boss to bring in fresh faces that fit his high-octane attacking style.
Most of the names that have been tossed out are some of the most entertaining players in the game today. With that in mind let's take a look at what some of the possible transfers can bring to West London.
Disclaimer: These goals are my opinion of the best. I am sure there are plenty of others they have scored that are just as good. If you know of one we should all see, please post a link as a comment so we can all enjoy :)
Falcao: Vs. Maritimo 3-04-10
1 of 8Ever since Villas-Boas was announced as the new manager for Chelsea, Falcao has been expected to follow.
The Colombian striker had a breakout season last year with FC Porto, scoring 41 goals in 50 games.
This overhead against Maritimo was one of his best to date. If he comes to Stamford Bridge, hopefully he will be able to display more of this magic.
Neymar: Vs. ?
2 of 8Neymar has been seen by many as the next great Brazilian superstar. He has the creativity of Ronaldihno and the scoring touch of Ronaldo, and has been a Chelsea target since last summer.
This goal (sorry I'm not sure which team it is against) exhibits all of the aspects that make him unique.
Chelsea has long been in the need of a player with this amount of flair to his game. A player like Neymar can be the difference they need to reclaim England and take European glory.
Luka Modric: Vs. Everton 2-28-10
3 of 8The Croatian playmaker has been the hot topic on this summer's transfer window. Chelsea seems to be putting more effort in acquiring his talent and Spurs have put in even more effort to keep him.
It is easy to see why both teams want him so badly. He is one of the best ball handlers in the world and has been instrumental in in the midfield for both club and country.
Chelsea would be pleased to have him arrive and help make that link between the midfield and the attacking front.
He does not score many goals, but this one against Everton was spectacular.
Romelu Lukaku: Vs. Charleroi 10-17-09
4 of 8When Fernando Torres came to Chelsea last year, it became apparent that Didier Drogba was on his way out. But that does not mean that Chelsea want to lose the type of player he is.
Young Belgian Romelu Lukaku ha been compared to the Ivorian ever since he came on to the scene at Anderlecht. He is strong, quick, powerful and only 18 years old!
This goal against Charleroi may not look that incredible, but it typifies the player he is. He times his run well, controls the ball, muscles away from a defender and puts the ball in the back of the net.
Obviously the competition in England will be much more demanding, but with a physical presence like his, it shouldn't be too long before he is comfortable and one of the biggest goal threats in the league.
Wesley Sneijder: Vs. Austria 2-9-11
5 of 8Why Chelsea is chasing Sneijder is obvious...he is great!
Nearly everything he touches turns to a goal. He is incredibly talented with the ball and has an uncanny ability to find the back of the net. He has an all-star career, winning multiple league cups and the Champions League, as well as guiding his team to the 2010 World Cup final.
This goal in a friendly against Austria just shows what he can do: score from anywhere, at anytime and on any play.
If Chelsea were to grab him and no one else, that should be enough to make them the preseason favorites in the league and Europe.
Adel Taarabt: Vs. Preston 11-20-10
6 of 8Taarabt is not quite the superstar that the others on this list are, but nonetheless holds his own as big-time transfer target.
His play at QPR was a major reason the London-based team will be in the EPL next season. He is reliable on the ball and extremely productive off it.
This goal shows his ability to single-handedly create something out of nothing. Chelsea could really use someone like this, especially late in a close game.
If he were to come to the Bridge he may fight to get regular first-team action, but he will be an imposing force coming off the bench.
Eden Hazard: Vs. Genoa 10-22-09
7 of 8With Frank Lampard getting older and older, the future of Chelsea's attacking midfield is in jeopardy. Hazard is rumored to come fill that role.
He has an exceptional touch and great breakaway speed. Most importantly he creates goals by getting high up on the field.
This goal against Genoa came only 10 minutes after being subbed into the game. Even off the bench, he is an asset.
Modric and Sneijder are great players, but will come at a steep price. Hazard has the potential to be much more bang for the buck.
Alexis Sanchez: Vs. Bari 10-31-10
8 of 8Sanchez has been expected to be on the move from Udinese all summer. With Manchester City and Chelsea, two of the richest English clubs, being the front runners, we can expect to see him in some shade of blue next season.
The Chilean froward can do it all. He has an amazing burst of speed, incredible technique and a wicked outside shot.
The latter is on display here as he rips a laser into the upper 90 from 30 yards out.
Chelsea will be loaded on striking talent next year. But it never hurts to have an extra goal scorer who does it as naturally as Sanchez.
If you know of any other great goals by these players or other Chelsea transfer targets, please post them in the comments section for us all to get a preview of what we may be watching next season.
