Georgia Football: 10 Dream Scenarios for 2011

Brian JonesJun 26, 2011

It's been six years since the Georgia Bulldogs have played in a SEC title game and it's been over two years since the Bulldogs have won 10 or more games in a season.

Based on the college football preview magazines all across the country, many think the Bulldogs will have a bounce back year and will play in the Georgia Dome in December.

And if the Bulldogs win the SEC Championship, they could have a inside track on the national title.

It would be great for the entire Bulldog nation to see the Bulldogs have a big year because it would be the dream season they have waited years for.

But what other scenarios would make this a dream season? What are some things that have to happen that would make the 2011 season a major success?

Here's a list of the 10 dream scenarios for Georgia football in 2011.

Caleb King and Isaiah Crowell Perform Well

1 of 10

Many think Isaiah Crowell will do well in his first year, just like Marcus Lattimore did last year with South Carolina.

But if Caleb King is able to produce on a consistent basis, that would put the pressure of Crowell to go out there and try to do too much.

Also, if King has a breakout season, that could mean Crowell can come in on situational plays which could be a dangerous thing having him lineup with King on the same field.

Tavarres King Becomes an Elite Receiver

2 of 10

Tavarres King put up solid numbers for Georgia last season, catching 27 passes for 504 yards and three touchdowns.

He does not have to put up A.J. Green-type numbers or make A.J. Green type plays. But if he doubles his catches and get close to 1,000 yards with seven or eight touchdowns, the Bulldogs will have a true No. 1 receiver.

The Offensive Line Exceeds Expectations

3 of 10

Losing Trinton Sturdivant is a tough blow for the offensive line along with Brent Benedict, but they have the pieces to do some damage against SEC defensive lineman.

Cordy Glenn and Ben Jones are preseason ALL-SEC selections, while Kenarious Gates and Chris Burnette are young guys who have a lot of upside to them.

Let's hope they don't get hit with the injury bug.

Aaron Murray Continues the Sophomore Trend

4 of 10

David Greene and Matthew Stafford had great sophomore seasons and as a result the Bulldogs ended No. 2 in the final rankings both years.

The difference is both Greene and Stafford did not have the freshman season Aaron Murray had, so there is going to be some pressure on Murray to make that next step and take the Bulldogs to greater heights.

If he does take that next step, he could have a room full of trophies by mid-January.

The Defesive Line Picks Up Where Justin Houton Left off

5 of 10

This will not be an easy task because Justin Houston was arguably the best pass rusher in the SEC last season.

However, If John Jenkins is able to come in at the nose tackle position and eat up some offensive lineman week in and week out, then somebody like Abry Jones or DeAngelo Tyson can have multiple sack games.

Alec Ogletree Has a Huge Year

6 of 10

Alec Ogletree showed a lot of promise at safety last year, but he is making the move to linebacker because the coaching staff believes he has the ability to cover sideline-to-sideline and make big plays with his hitting abilities.

If Ogletree is able to make a smooth transition, he could be the most feared player in the conference.

Branden Smith and Brandon Boykin Rise Up

7 of 10

Both Branden Smith and Branden Boykin are great as return specialist, but more has been expected out of them when it comes to playing the cornerback position.

Because of their experience, both are expected to have great 2011 seasons. It's much needed because the pass defense for Georgia struggled at times last season.

The Dawgs Defeat Florida

8 of 10

One win usually doesn't define a season, but if Georgia does beat Florida, then it would be a season many Bulldog fans will remember.

Not because Florida has had Georgia's number for the last 20 years, it's the fact that current Florida head coach and Georgia alum Will Muschamp guaranteed victory over the Bulldogs this season.

We'll see how it goes down on Oct. 29.

Winning the SEC Title

9 of 10

Many experts have picked Georgia to win the SEC East title, but they also chose Alabama win the SEC West and the SEC title by defeating Georgia.

Can the Bulldogs defeat the 'Tide? They can, but they would have to play mistake free football and players like Murray, King, Ogletree, Smith and Boykin have to be on top of their game.

And if Georgia win the SEC title, head coach Mark Richt should win Coach of the Year.

Winning the BCS National Championship

10 of 10

Now, if Georgia does win the SEC title, they will have an inside track to the BCS National Championship game.

No matter who they play, the Bulldogs will have a tough task because they have won a national title in over 30 years.

But if everything has been going their way at this point, why should it stop at the grandest stage of them all?
