UFC 91: Anderson Wants In!
I just learned by way of the MMA Forum that Anderson Silva has taken offence at all the criticism and accusations that have come his way after his fight with Patrick Cote at UFC 90 in Chicago this past Saturday.
Even Boss Dana White seemed to lose faith in his top P4P champion and questioned his performance in a critical manner.
How could a proud Brazilian fighter react to such a disgraceful situation where his dedication and honor are being questioned?
He wants to fight at UFC 91 just three weeks away!
Who he would fight is of little consequence to him. He wants to quickly erase the scorn of being called a "showboat" and being afraid of/or clowning with a lesser fighter.
Could anyone really be so dense as to believe that Anderson Silva was too slow to engage Patrick Cote either because he feared Patrick or would stoop so low as to disrespect him by toying with the Predator?
Surely not I.
So now Anderson will take on "any challenger" Dana can provide to prove his mettle and silence his detractors. As I have probably said before, or should have, this is a man who is very spiritual, certainly not a clown, and he takes fighting very seriously.
Will big boss Dana take him up on this and set up a fight with anyone game (or foolish) enough to set foot in the ring with the Spider?
And if a fight could be set up on such short notice, would it overshadow the main event and Dana's wonder boy Brock "I ain't never took Steroids!" Lesner?
What a chance that would be, possibly taking away "fight of the night"status from Dana's triumphant "taming of the traitor" Randy Couture.
Boy oh boy! What surprise is on the horizon?
If I could pull a rabbit out of a hat, I would have Anderson fighting Georges St. Pierre and to hell with BJ Penn. Why should the Hawaiian brat always get what he wants?
To heck with Brock and Randy; let's bring on Georges and Anderson--they could even share a plane back from Brazil together.
Georges was willing to save Christmas by stepping in for Matt Serra when Dana critically needed a gift from Santa. It is time to return the favor, Dana.
Sign the contract Georges has been patiently waiting for and get the ball rolling before McCain gets elected and bans MMA altogether.
Boy oh boy! What a surprise that would be!
Fans would surely appreciate it more than the trip to Chicago for UFC 90.
Will Dana take the bait? Will Anderson get his wish? Or will UFC 91 turn out to be considered even less fulfilling than UFC 90 was?
