ACC: Ranking the 5 Best Offensive Linemen for 2011
Let's take a look at the top offensive lineman in the ACC entering the 2011 season. These are the guys in the trenches that never get any recognition. Well I'm here to give them some.
Completed Rankings at All Sports Discussion
1) Brandon Washington, Miami
Washington is the only returning All-ACC offensive lineman from 2010. He's 6'4" and moves extremely well for a 320 pound player. Washington had 56 pancake blocks last year, ranking second on the Hurricanes. NFL teams are already eyeing Washington as a second or third rounder and he's only a junior.
2) Jaymes Brooks, Virginia Tech
6'2" 307 lb senior guard James Brooks of Virginia Tech will anchor one of the best offensive lines in the ACC. He was a second team All-ACC selection last year and is a good bet to be a pre-season All-ACC and fringe All-American pick this year. He's started 28 straight games, and is projected as third to fifth round NFL draft choice.
3) Andrew Datko, Florida State
The Noles had a couple big losses on the offensive with center Ryan McMahon and All-American Rodney Hudson no longer at FSU. The good news is Andrew Datko is back. He's a 6'6" 311 pound senior that I've already seen as a second round pick in one NFL mock draft. CBSSports.com has him rated the No. 2 OT prospect for 2012.
4) Omoregie Uzzi, Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets had a largely forgettable 6-7 2010 season, but don't blame Uzzi. The RS JR was Georgia Tech's most consistent lineman and was a big part of the nation's leading rushing attack from a year ago. He was one of Georgia Tech's highest rated recruits in 2008 and is living up to the billing.
5) Landon Walker, Clemson
Landon Walker has improved each year he's been at Clemson, and should have a solid senior season. I've seen Walker projected anywhere from a preseason All-ACC first teamer to third teamer. He has 35 career starts and will be Clemson's most experienced lineman. Word is he's picked up Chad Morris's new offense very quickly.
