Arsenal FC Could Benefit Greatly from the Sale of Cesc Fabregas!

Ishan ChowdhuryJun 18, 2011

Cesc Fabregas is widely considered by most Arsenal FC supporters as the team's best player. And I fully agree with that opinion.

When fully fit, he can pose a serious threat to any team in the world, but his impact at Arsenal has slowly started to die. Injuries and a lack of interest in playing for the club has made him the player he is today and have worked against the Spanish international.

Ever since Barcelona publicly expressed their interest in buying their ex player, Fabregas suddenly seemed to lose that sense of motivation that he had shown earlier.

Though he has constantly expressed his desire to win a trophy at Arsenal, I feel that keeping an unhappy player at the club could cause be detrimental to the entire team's confidence. Players like Sagna, Walcott and Nasri have all spoken about how they do expect their captain to leave the team pretty soon.

Even as a supporter of the team, it makes me so sad to hear how our very own captain is so eager to jump ship to another club. I just wonder how tough it would be for the players who share the same dressing room as him.

It is not as if Arsenal can't do without him. Time and time again, the North London-based outfit has proved that they are more than capable of mustering points even without their captain. There's no better example of that than when they beat Manchester United to keep their slim chances at a title alive, even though they were later blown away.

The sale of Fabregas would obviously leave a void in the team and the purchase of a top quality player would be essential to challenge for top honors. The player brought in does not have to be of the same mould as Cesc, as I feel that Wilshere or Nasri are both more than capable of playing the position of our captain.

Arsenal would earn a healthy £40 million through the sale of Fabregas, and that amount can be used to finance a move for a world-class striker. Though Robin van Persie is one of the best in the business, his fitness is questionable. Also, a top class striker would allow Arsene Wenger to employ Robin in a "second striker" role, which i feel would be ideal for the team.

Also, I believe that Fabregas' departure could pave the way for more chances for Tomas Rosicky, who has been extremely underplayed and is one of the most underrated players in the team, in my opinion.

The current situation is making it all seem as if the player is bigger than the club, and it is an embarrassment for a club of Arsenal's stature.
