TNA News: Hulkster Backs the Blueprint as the Future of TNA

Gone Baby GoneJun 16, 2011

Hulk Hogan recently sat down with ESPN.com, to discuss his video game, Macho Man and, surprisingly, Impact Wrestling.

The biggest thing that came out of this was Hogan's thoughts on who will lead TNA to the "promised land." When asked by writer John Robinson, "Do you see a guy in Impact who might have the ability to carry that brand to another level?," Hogan responded, "I've really tried to be optimistic when looking at the talent that is there, and I've already tried to give the football to a couple of guys who are there, and they are just so off into that: "TNA Wrestling, this is TNA Wrestling, I have a five-star match every week."

Which is surprising as most of the TNA originals are do not seem to be that cocky. Most have been supporting the company since it's inception and seem open to doing what's in the best interest for TNA. I highly doubt if any wrestler were told you were going to be the face of the company, that they would shun it away.

Although, he did have something positive to say about "The DNA of TNA." Hogan stated, "I think the one guy I really need to focus on is Matt Morgan." Adding, "I think if we sit down and really dial Matt Morgan in, he can be somebody who can really turn things around and lead Impact Wrestling to the promised land."

However, Hogan was also very critical about Morgan's mic skills. He mentioned that, "There are a couple of things that need to be fixed, and one of the main things is his interviews."  Hogan spoke of a specific instance with Morgan not giving Scott Steiner enough smack during a promo.

He felt Morgan could have handled it better, mentioning, "when Scott Steiner looks at you and calls you a punk, you need to come back and say something." Adding, "instead, he's talking about how he respects Steiner as an athlete."

If Hogan really feels this way and has as much "power" as he claims to have backstage, this could be huge for Morgan. Many fans of TNA have been waiting for years to see "The Blueprint" become champion.

As many of you know, Morgan was a Tough Enough castoff who later wrestled for, and was released by, the WWE. Morgan arrived in TNA in 2007 and has been making a name for himself both in and out of the ring.

However, he is pushing 35 and one has to wonder how much longer TNA can wait before making him champ. I realize 35 is not that old but, in wrestling years, he is practically in his 50s.

Not that he is broken down, just that is how many are perceived once they get to a certain age in wrestling without ever winning the big one.
