Week Nine Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice
What’s already been an odd season in the NFL just got a little weirder after last week’s games. The Miami Dolphins beat the Buffalo Bills, the Cleveland Browns won on the road over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Tyler Thigpen played really well in a losing effort. The Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions are still winless, so apparently there are some things that are still normal.
As we approach midseason, the players available on the waiver wire that can help your team out get thinner with each passing week. In the following weeks, we will have waiver wire lists for you, telling you which players available in free agency should be on your roster, and which players on your roster should be free agents.

Quarterback
Tyler Thigpen (Kansas City Chiefs)
We’ve taken a few shots at Tyler Thigpen as an NFL quarterback, but he took a huge step forward with his performance against the Jets last week. In a losing effort, Thigpen was 25-of-36 for 280 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He completed 69.4 percent of his passes, which was well above his average entering the game, and averaged 7.8 yards per attempt. He also managed to spread the ball around to seven different receivers.
What’s intriguing about Thigpen is the upcoming schedule for the Chiefs. Kansas City has upcoming games against weak defenses in New Orleans, Oakland, Denver, Miami, and Cincinnati, so he could have a few more games like this.

Running Back
Antonio Pittman (St. Louis Rams)
Antonio Pittman filled in for starter Steven Jackson, who was ruled out at the last minute because of a hip injury. Pittman shined in his first NFL start as he rushed 19 times for 83 yards and added 22 yards on three receptions. It appears Jackson will be fine for this week, but Pittman is intriguing because hip injuries are not only slow to heal, but are especially tough on running backs.
If you’re a Jackson owner and have a roster spot to spare, Pittman is definitely worth an add if Jackson is still hurting. Not to mention that with his success last week, Pittman could start seeing more playing time anyway.
