Greg Manusky, Do 49ers Fans a Favor and Coach High School
It's absolutely embarrassing to watch the 49ers try to play defense. The key word here is try to play defense.
Greg Manusky, the defensive coordinator, has no idea how to run a defense. The one word that could describe the 49ers defense is soft, but that is being too nice. The defense has shown glimpses of promise, and that's in the area of the linebackers.
Now, who was the linebacker coach for the 49ers? Mike Singletary, and can you understand why Takeo Spikes, Manny Lawson, Patrick Willis, and Parys Haralson are the only real strengths to the 49ers' defense? Even with them, the 49ers can't make up for the lack of pass rush and the soft coverage of the 49ers secondary.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Again, the 49ers have one of the best—quite possibly THE best, linebacker in the NFL in Patrick Willis, but even then he could get even better. How about using him off the edge to get to the quarterback? The 49ers have 13.5 sacks this season in seven games, so that's more than one sack per game. That's unacceptable for any defense and most of them came against Matt Cassel in the New England game.
The second thing the 49ers need to do is start playing tighter coverage on wide receivers. For example, in the game today against Seattle. The Seahawks had a 4th-and-6, and the corners allowed for Koren Robinson to get to the spot where he could get the first down.
There's a 3rd-and-6 situation that lead to a screen pass that should have gotten a few yards, instead the Seahawks got a first down and scored a few plays later.
It's been two years since the 49ers hired Manusky as a defensive coordinator, and he hasn't done the job the 49ers need. During the bye week, the next firing needs to happen, and it's Greg Manusky.
He is a clown. He has no clue how to run a defense, and he's better suited for being a coach in high school, because it's obvious he wouldn't do well in college, either. He doesn't know how to use his team's strengths to help benefit the team. He would much rather play the bend-but-don't-break type of defense instead of getting after the quarterback and playing tough against wide receivers.
