Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday.
Minnesota at Cleveland
Ben Revere went 3-for-5 with a run, two RBI, and a stolen base. Danny Valencia went 2-for-4. Luke Hughes went 2-for-4 with a run. Michael Brantley went 3-for-5. Jack Hannahan went 2-for-4 with a home run. Lou Marson went 2-for-4. Carl Pavano gave up one run over seven innings. Justin Masterson gave up two runs over eight innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.
Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati
Kosuke Fukudome went 2-for-4 with a run. Carlos Pena went 1-for-4 with a home run (nine) and two RBI (29). Tony Campana went 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Koyie Hill went 2-for-3. Ryan Dempster gave up one run on three hits with eight strikeouts in six innings to even his record at 5-5.
Washington at San Francisco
Brandon Crawford and Eli Whiteside each went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Ian Desmond went 2-for-4. Yunesky Maya gave up one run over six innings, but got a no-decision. Matt Cain tossed a gem.
Oakland at Baltimore
Mark Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a home run (10) and two RBI (32). Conor Jackson went 2-for-3. Jemile Weeks went 2-for-3 with two runs. Zach Britton gave up one run with six strikeouts in 6.1 innings to improve to 6-4 with a 3.18 ERA.
Colorado at San Diego
Todd Helton went 4-for-4 with three runs and a home run. Eric Patterson went 2-for-4. Ryan Ludwick went 2-for-4 with a run. Jorge Cantu went 2-for-3. Alberto Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia
Cole Hamels was the story in this one.
Atlanta at Florida
Jordan Schafer went 2-for-5 with a stolen base. Alex Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Derek Lowe gave up two hits with five strikeouts in 6.2 scoreless innings. Ricky Nolasco gave up two runs with five strikeouts in 7.1 innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.
Boston at New York Yankees
Marco Scutaro went 2-for-5 with two runs. J.D. Drew went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Francisco Cervelli went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
St. Louis at Houston
Bud Norris gave up just a solo shot in eight innings to improve to 4-4 with a 3.67 ERA. Jason Bourgeois went 2-for-5 with a run and a stolen base (14). Jason Michaels went 2-for-4 with an RBI. J.R. Towles went 2-for-4 with a run.
Detroit at Texas
Yorvit Torrealba went 2-for-3 with two runs. Chris Davis went 2-for-4 with a run. Alexi Ogando continued to dazzle.
Arizona at Pittsburgh
Jose Tabata went 4-for-6 with a run. Brandon Wood went 2-for-3. Zach Duke, yesterday’s streaming pitcher option, gave up one run in seven innings. Paul Maholm gave up one hit in six scoreless innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.
Toronto at Kansas City
Corey Patterson went 4-for-5 with two runs and his ninth stolen base. Juan Rivera went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Aaron Hill went 2-for-5 with a run. Jayson Nix went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with two RBI (33). Melky Cabrera went 1-for-5 with a home run (8) and three RBI (38). Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-4 with a run. Brayan Pena went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Seattle at Chicago White Sox
Justin Smoak went 2-for-5. Miguel Olivo went 2-for-5 with two runs, a home run (8), and three RBI (30). Franklin Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
New York Mets at Milwaukee
Nyjer Morgan went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Ronny Paulino went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Randy Wolf gave up one run on four hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Mike Pelfrey gave up two runs on four hits in six innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.
Tampa Bay at Los Angeles Angels
