After a hard-fought battle between two of the best the middleweight division has to offer, we have learned a few things from the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Sebastian Zbik fight this past weekend.
There were many questions looming over these two fighters and here are a number of things that we learned after the fight was declared a majority decision in favor of Chavez Jr.
Julio Cesar Chavez Was Destined to Become a Champion Just Like His Father

Coming up in the boxing world in the shadows of his infamous father, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has done everything he can to step out of that looming shadow.
Though many of Chavez Jr.'s fights in the beginning of his career were undercards for his dad's fights, he is now taking great strides to create a name for himself.
Showing a lot of fight and determination, he showed hints of his father here and there during the fight, which for the most part was a blow-for-blow, middle of the ring fight.
Only time will tell us if Chavez Jr. will ever reach his father's career success, but he gave it a solid start last Saturday night beating previously unbeaten Sebastian Zbik.
Sebatian Zbik Has a Strong Chin

During Saturday's fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sebastian Zbik had some moments were they stood toe-to-toe and traded blows.
Zbik demonstrated that he had a very strong chin taking some serious shots from the bigger and stronger Chavez Jr.
Though Zbik lost the fight in the end, his ability to take a big head shot in stride and keep it going was very impressive. This is something that future fighters will have on their minds when they step in the ring against him.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Is Not Afraid to Share the Spotlight with His Dad

Although Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is trying to create his own legacy as a boxer, he showed he respects his father immensely and will share the spotlight with him at the right times.
Chavez Jr. demonstrated this before his fight, when during his longer-than-usual introduction Chavez Jr. showed a highlight reel of his father's 25-year boxing career, getting the heavily Latino crowd hyped-up— being that Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is one of Mexico's most beloved sport figures in history.
This was a smart decision on Chavez Jr.'s part, as the crowd's energy can feed a fighter's confidence as it did Saturday night in L.A.
Sebastian Zbik's Decision to Fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in L.A. Was a Bad Idea

Before the fight began it was painfully obvious that the reigning champion entering the fight, Sebastian Zbik, was the clear underdog in the fight.
With the fight being held in Los Angeles, CA, the crowd was mostly made up of Hispanic boxing fans who were there to cheer on the American-born Mexican fighter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
The ring announcer even pronounced Zbik's name wrong during his introduction to the ring, getting his fight off to a bad start before it even began.
If Zbik held the fight somewhere else that wasn't so pro-Chavez Jr., it would have made things that much easier on Zbik and not given an immediate psychological advantage to Chavez Jr.

Being with Freddie Roach's camp for a little over a year now, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has clearly taken his boxing career to the next level.

With Roach in his corner, the sky is the limit for Chavez Jr., and has the potential of someday having a career comparable to that of his father's—all-time boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.
Sebastian Zbik Needs to Improve His Conditioning and Body Defense
6 of 6
Blow after painful blow, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. battered Sebastian Zbik's body throughout the fight on Saturday night.
At points in the latter rounds of the fight, Zbik had trouble walking back to his corner as he took quite the beating in his mid-section.
According to CompuBox numbers, Chavez Jr. out landed Zbik in body punches 129-26. Taking that many shots to one's body will suck the power right out of a fighter as it did Saturday night to Zbik. Not known for his power in the first place, taking whatever power he does have out of the equation for most of the fight really hurt Zbik.
Getting himself in better condition will also help Zbik endure a barrage of body blows. Also in need of work is Zbiks defense against body shots. Allowing an opponent to hit you that many times to the body is a problem that Zbik will have to address as he goes on with his boxing career.
