NBA Playoffs 2011: James Harden and the 5 Worst Flops of the Year
In Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, James Harden of the Oklahoma City Thunder went down like Tyson Chandler of the Dallas Mavericks landed a haymaker to his right eye.
The referees immediately gave Chandler a technical foul. After reviewing the game tape, the NBA rescinded the technical because it was obvious Harden flopped.
The sport of soccer is often criticized for its frequent flopping, but flopping has become more prevalent over the years in professional basketball.
Ron Artest of the Los Angeles Lakers once said:
""I don’t even know how to take a charge. To get the charge you have to fall. I’d rather not fall. You call an offensive foul, possibly be a fight. That’s just how we grew up playing basketball. Growing up if you took a charge on the playground and called it, you got stabbed."
"
For once, it would be nice if everyone thought the same way Artest does (I can't believe I just said that).
Whether you believe it's the players that are to blame for flopping or the refs fault for calling the flop, you most likely will agree on one thing: flopping is the ugliest part of basketball.
Out of all the ugly flops this year, here are the worst five:
5. Raja Bell and J.R. Smith
1 of 5Two flops for the price of one.
Bell sold his flop better than J.R. so he gets the call.
4. Raja Bell and Manu Ginobli
2 of 5What happens when two of the greatest floppers in NBA history go at it? Art.
On Bell's second flop of the countdown, it's time to introduce you to his theme song.
3. James Harden
3 of 5James Harden is a warrior; I don't know how he got up from that one.
It must be the beard.
2. Chris Bosh
4 of 5Bosh Spice makes the countdown at No. 2 after taking a brutal elbow right to the nose from Carlos Boozer.
You've got to love delayed reactions.
1. Glen Davis
5 of 5Big Baby must have really thought his nickname was in danger of being taken from him to sell the flop for that long.
No, he can't be, he's really faking tears at 0:28.
