Philadelphia Eagles: Watch out for the Hidden Talent Amongst the Eagles

Frank PassalacquaMay 12, 2011

While free-agency is currently being held up, you probably won't be hearing of any new deals going on for a while. So let's take some time to appreciate some players of the Philadelphia Eagles roster that some people don't really know, but have great potential to be stars.

Even though the NFL can't allow negotiations between NFL players, that doesn't count out the CFL.

Regardless of what anyone will say about this, this deal is HUGE. Defense End Phillip Hunt played in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last season and topped the CFL with 16 sacks, four more than the next highest player.

He was signed to a three-year contract, and will expect a lot of playing time. Hunt is not a random pick, he is actually quit acquainted with the team already. He was teammate of backup QB Kevin Kolb at the University of Houston, where he was watched by Andy Reid.

Hunt will need to fight for a starting spot, because despite his age, 32-year old Juqua Parker will probably make the team again next season, along with Darryl Tapp and last year's first-round draft pick Brandon Graham.

Next is the little wideout Chad Hall. He saw very limited playing time last season, but is slowly finding his niche.

I watched this guy at training camp before last season, and let me tell you one thing: if he and DeSean Jackson were to race, I'm not sure who would win. Hall is extremely agile and quick on his feet. His only weakness is his height.

Hall saw time last year as a slot receiver, kick/punt returner, and got reps at half back. I feel like if this guy sees more game play, then he has the ability to turn some heads.

I don't mean to have another recap of this year's draft, but the next two players are guys the Eagles selected that can really help the team.

First and foremost, linebacker Casey Matthews out of Oregon. This pick was huge for the team, and he hasn't even seen the practice field yet.

If this guy can walk in the footsteps of his older brother Clay, then watch out. After all, the brothers did spend the entire offseason this year and last working out with each other.

Lastly, safety Jaiquawn Jarrett looks like he can walk onto the All-Rookie team already.

Jarrett is pretty big for his position, weighing in at almost 198 pounds, but that is an advantage when it comes to laying those hits down. Can you say Brian Dawkins?

Well, here it is. These players so far just need that chance to shine; then they can be a star.

Philadelphia has a lot to look forward to next season, and they should be pretty excited.
