What Does ESPN's Talented Mr. Roto Do All Day? Now We Know.
Do you ever wonder what ESPN fantasy uber-god Matthew "The Talented Mr. Roto" Berry does with his day? Yeah, me neither. But if you do, check out this post from the 10/9 fantasy football e-newsletter that ESPN sends out.
In one of my recent "Love/Hate" columns, I mentioned that I was discontinuing a few things in my weekly schedule—most notably my flex rankings on Friday—because of time constraints and other factors. (Eric Karabell does Friday's flex rankings now and does an excellent job with them.) Well, I quickly got the following e-mail: TJ: "Someone seems to be getting a little too big for his britches, no? 'From now on, I'm not doing this or this or this …' Suck it up. It's your job." TMR: Ha, ha. If you only knew, TJ. There are only so many hours in the day, and I try to maximize 'em. I've been asked so often about my weekly schedule and where to find me, I might as well lay it out for everyone. You'll note that I already work seven days a week. But no complaints -- I have the best job in the world. With that, here's what I do every week from October to the end of the NFL season (it's even busier in September):

Monday
- Do it all over again.
And, of course, like every job, there are nonscheduled things that come up everyday. For instance, one day last week I had an hour-long production meeting about a fantasy basketball preview show we shot the next day. That, of course, meant that I spent much of the previous evening and into the night researching for the following day's 8:30 a.m. ET shoot. And there are always e-mails. And meetings with sales, or marketing, or games, or management, or business development, or doing interviews and PR for ESPN, and so on. Busy, but fun. Indeed I have the best job in the world. Exhausted yet? Catch Matthew Berry, the Talented Mr. Roto, across the various platforms each week at ESPN Fantasy.
So there you go...a day in the life of a full-time fantasy sports expert. I'd give you my schedule, but it goes kinda like this: sleep, eat, porn, sleep, gym, mow lawns, more porn, TV, sleep.
