NFL's Biggest QB Battles ⚔️

Star Power

The Cowboys could not have asked for a better blessing in the midst of a plague of injuries and the suspension of Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones surrounding week 6 of the NFL season.  Roy Williams, life-long Cowboys fan and former Texas Longhorns wide receiver, finally returns home to Texas; only this time he is wearing Cowboy blue.

At 6’3” Williams provides a big target for recent back-up turned starter Brad Johnson, who will need the added security blanket of a pro-bowl caliber receiver while serving as a temporary replacement for the injured Tony Romo over the next 4 weeks while Romo recovers from a broken pinkie suffered on the first play of overtime in the loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week.

Williams demands respect attention from opposing defenses which will free up coverage for primary receiver Terrell Owens to excel, once again, like he did in the first 4 weeks of the 2008 season and in the majority of his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys.  Pro-Bowl tight end Jason Witten will also see more balls coming his way with Williamsat the other wide-out and crayton moving back to his position as slot reciever.  This will take some of the attention of the linebackers off of Witten allowing him to break into the secondary for substantial yardage.

The running game consisting of the tandem of Marion Barber and Felix Jones will also likely see an increase in productivity due to the fact that the safeties will be more concerned with the deep threat than trying to stop the run.  The injury to Romo was thought to have added pressure to the running game but now that Williams in at receiver the deep threat is as prevalent as ever, even with Brad Johnson at the helm.

The addition of Williams, if nothing else, will prove interesting to watch over the next few weeks, especially when we find out what kind of chemistry Williams will have with injured star quarterback Tony Romo after his return from the broken pinkie finger on his throwing hand. Roy Williams can mean nothing but good things for a Dallas Cowboys team at this point in the season as they struggle to find their place in the race for the NFC East title.
