How Cowardly Jose Mourinho's Obsession of Beating Barcelona Cost Him His Dignity
Jose Mourinho is presently the world's best football manager, a title he earned by winning the Champions League last year and more importantly at the expense of one of the best football teams then, FC Barcelona.
A lot has changed, and today we mark the anniversary of the day Inter Milan pulled of a miracle and Jose came sprinting on to the Camp Nou pitch. Today though, he was forced to sit on the stairs after being banished from the touchline after controversial comments on the referee's decision to send Pepe off. Lets back up a little and see how this tie played out.

Jose decided to take a shot at Pep Guardiola, saying that he should concentrate on football rather than criticizing referees for taking correct decisions. Guardiola very uncharacteristically made the whole thing personal and went after Jose like no one has ever before.
The first impression was that it was something Pep wanted to do for a long long time, that this was always coming, but what everyone failed to see is that it was a master stroke. No one talked about the missing Iniesta or any other Barcelona player for that matter; it was the Pep show.
Also, it created a certain tension among the Bernabau crowd, who are so used to seeing them attacking. When they saw their team cornered for most of the game, they tried to support them, but that support increased the pressure rather than motivating the players. Pepe's challenge and Mourinho's outburst were a result of that.
On the field
Real defended at home against their best rivals, and when their player got sent off for an atrocious challenge they moaned. This was always coming, this is what happens when you play a centre back in the midfield. This tactic could work in a one-off game like a cup final, but not in a long-term prospect. Once Pepe was off, it became a stroll in the park and a certain Leo Messi made the defence look like schoolboys.
Press Conference : Forty minutes after the game
Jose Mourinho lost his dignity and respect here; why on earth would you blame Barcelona for referee's incorrect decision? Today the referee was spot on. About the Chelsea comment, well it was bad luck referee did not give Chelsea the penalties they deserved, so it must be Barcelona's fault.
The UEFA rule book says that a player kicking the ball after the whistle is blown wastes time (no minimum time line is mentioned so even a second could be counted) so Van Persie gets a second yellow but wait this is Barcelona's fault too, why?
They have powerful influences within UEFA or the effect of UNICEF, well it is only justified that Barcelona are planning to sue Mourinho and Real Madrid. He went on to say that it would be shameful to win the trophy after such a "scandal".
Hold on Mou...was it not a disgrace when Inter Milan scored an offside goal, got lucky with a penalty shot not being given and a genuine goal disallowed on their way to the Bernabau, hypocrisy at its very best? Just because you are louder than the others does not make you correct. Just because your opponent refuses to fight, you assumed it was weak. When Guardiola decided to fight fire with fire look where it left you.
Jose Mourinho might be a tactical genius but he cannot not hide from the fact that he got played by Pep Guardiola both on and off the field. On top of that he decides to hide behind ridiculous conspiracy by Barcelona and UEFA. All the football fans have learnt something today, for Jose Mourinho winning is more than football itself.
