The Ultimate Fighter 13: 5 Things We Learned Last Night
Last week on the Ultimate Fighter, we learned Brock Lesnar wasn't quite finished using his favorite catch phrase: Chicken Sh*t.
Earlier in the season Brock gave some lame explanation that he doesn't mean the fighters are Chicken Sh*t, but they used to be.
Well last week's episode ended with each team in their respective locker rooms; Team Dos Santos celebrating Ramsey's victory over Charlie, and Team Lesnar getting chewed out by Brock. Chicken Sh*t, Chicken Sh*t, Chicken Sh*t... then we see Len leave.
This week's show picked up from there, and here's what we learned.
Brock Lesnar Doesn't Care If His Team Likes Him
1 of 5
After delivering the butt chewing to his team, Lesnar says he doesn't care if anyone on his team likes him. That's good to know because it looks like he's rubbing a few of them—especially Len—the wrong way.
Len feels he gave it his all in his fight (the best fight of the season so far) and doesn't appreciate his coach—who wasn't even there for his fight—including him in the butt chewing.
Back at the house Len takes it further, as he mocks Brock saying, "Oh, let's Wow him." He continues, “I’m not going to stay in that room and let some guy I don’t even care about call me names. It’s not name-calling time.”
Remember last season when Koscheck's team was mocking him, and he walked in the house to catch them doing it?
We can only hope Brock walks in on one of his team's mock sessions this season. I can hear him now, "You're all acting like Chicken Sh*t!"
Brock Lesnar Admits He Got His A-- Kicked by Cain Velasquez
2 of 5
Yes, we all know Cain Velasquez beat down and bloodied Brock Lesnar, but I can’t recall Lesnar referring to it in this way.
In all the interviews I’ve seen, Lesnar focuses on the good things he did during the fight, and kind of made it seem like he got caught.
During his rant in the locker room after Charlie’s loss, Brock said, “There’s nowhere to hide in there. I got my ass kicked by Cain Velasquez.”
Lesnar continued, “I didn’t come out of there blaming anybody. I didn’t have any team members. This isn’t a team sport. That was my responsibility.”
It was interesting to hear Lesnar talk about the loss in that way. He showed a very humble side in front of his team.
By the way, does anyone in the sport have better promos than GSP? I swear his promos are like movie trailers. Can't wait for UFC 129 this Saturday.
Chris Cope May or May Not Be a Double Agent
3 of 5
We see someone write “Chris Cope Double Agent” in the indoor sandbox.
The question on everyone’s mind is not “Why do we have an indoor sandbox?”, but rather, “is Chris really a double agent, and who wrote this?”
Team Lesnar has questioned Cope’s allegiance for the majority of the season so far.
Cope has been known to watch and evaluate his teammates' training sessions as well as spend a lot of his time with Team Dos Santos. Cope tries to convince his teammates that he can be trusted and is a “man of integrity.”
Things get interesting when Cope accuses Tony of writing it.
Tony is furious and we come close to seeing our first in-house fight of the season (you know it’s coming one of these weeks). Tony assures Cope that if they were on the street he would beat him down.
So, is Chris Cope a double agent? We’re still unsure.
Who wrote it?
Mick Bowman from Team Dos Santos. Bowman said he wrote it as a joke because Cope is always hanging around Team Dos Santos, “like a bad smell.”
By the way, the UFC is really starting to play up the USA vs Canada storyline for UFC 129, aren’t they?
As a proud American, I’m not sure how I feel about my countrymen’s chances to win more then they lose.
Clay Harvison Defeats Mick Bowman
4 of 5
I was really hoping to see Brock absolutely lose it after another loss, but Clay pulled out the decision victory over Mick to put Team Lesnar back in control.
Mick was fighting for his daughter and Clay was fighting for his late father and brother.
Interesting note to go along with that: Clay had his brother’s ashes added to the ink used for the tattoo on his left side. Now that’s pretty cool.
The first round was clearly Clay’s as he won the stand up battle, as Mick seemed very hesitant to try to get anything started. The second round was closer.
Junior Dos Santos was sure it would go to a third round. Not this time.
By the way, does anyone else find it hard to believe that CougarLife.com is the “Wildest Dating Service” around?
Clay Won His Fight but Will Not Continue Due to Injury
5 of 5
After “wowing” Coach Lesnar with his decision victory over Mick, Clay finds out that he has a compound fracture to his pinky.
The fracture occurred when he blocked a kick from Mick.
As the camera shows Clay’s disfigured pinky, you can see the bone trying to force its way through the skin.
Not a pretty sight, but come on! Do you want to be an Ultimate Fighter? Cut that thing off like Ronnie Lott and continue.
Too much? Okay, maybe that is a bit extreme.
Clay looked pretty good in his fight, and he’ll probably get another shot in the UFC, perhaps at the Ultimate Fighter finale.
Be sure to tune in next week as we see the final two first-round fights and the announcement of the wild card.
