The New Top 25: The Sooners Stoop Down
Are you getting tired of this like I am? I know college football is exciting, but couldn’t we have just one week when there are only a couple of upsets and not a whole slew of them?
It seems like every week I have to change the entire Top 25. There are more pops and drops among the ranked teams than in the Dow 30.
Anyway, here we go.
Popping up is my new Number One—Texas—with a convincing comeback-win against the previous Number One—the Oklahoma Sooners. Also popping up behind Texas is Penn State, crushing Wisconsin and Florida, doing the same to last year’s BCS champion, LSU.
Other teams popping up in the Top Ten are Alabama, USC, Texas Tech, BYU, Oklahoma State, and Ohio State.
Popping into the Top 25 are Wake Forrest, Ball State (7-0), North Carolina and Minnesota, by default.
Dropping out of the Top 10 are Oklahoma (11) and LSU (15) while Missouri dropped down to Number Nine.
Dropping out of the Top 25 are Wisconsin (17) crushed by Penn State, Vanderbilt (18) upset by mediocre Mississippi State, Auburn (19) beaten by a three-loss Arkansas team and Georgia Tech, who won, but only by three points (10-7) against powerhouse Gardner-Webb (2-4).
Here is my entire Top 25 for this week.

Offensive Player of the Week: Colt McCoy, Texas, and Tim Tebow, Florida.
Defensive Player of the Week: Kevin Ellison, USC
Ironically, two of my usual top offensive players and Heisman candidates, Chase Daniel of Missouri and Sam Bradford of Oklahoma, both suffered defeats today. They may have dropped out of Heisman contention with three costly interceptions for Daniels and two for Bradford.
