The Bedpan Fantasy Football Injuries Of Note
October 11, 2008
2008 has been the year of the Red X. Most fantasy football owners have to be looking at their rosters and seeing spots of injuries dotted throughout. Let’s have a look at some injury reports, who is going to start, who is going to sit, and who you may be able to plug in this week.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
QB:
Carson Palmer, Bengals: If you have been wondering if you should go a different direction but just could not stomach benching Palmer and his high draft status, it’s not your fault and you can do it this week. Palmer is going to be sitting. At least you know ahead of time this week.
Trent Edwards, Bills: They are being cautious with Edwards on the bye week. Signs are pointing that he will return after the bye week.
Brian Griese, Bucs: His elbow held him out of practice again. Will Jeff Garcia play well enough to hold him out of games after this week? remains to be seen. Jon Gruden is becoming to QB’s what Mike Shanahan is to RB’s.
Jon Kitna, Lions: This was an interesting tidbit earlier in the week because it appears that the Lions were not prepared for the possibility that Kitna could not go. There was question as to if Dan Orlovsky or Drew Stanton would get the start. It appears that Orlovsky is going to be the guy this weekend in his first NFL start.
Aaron Rodgers, Packers: All signs on the Magic 8 Ball are pointing to Rodgers starting against Seattle. People questioned his durability going into the season but we are seeing some toughness as well as he is playing through the pain. Kudos Aaron.
Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks: Hasselbeck is listed as questionable but is not expected to play according to The Big Show. Beware the return of Charlie Fry. Well, Charlie Fry will return anyway, we have not had to beware of anything with the Seahawks passing game this season so far.
RB:
Brian Westbrook, Eagles: Let’s look at it this way. You are going to be without Brian Westbrook this week. At least you know it now. How much hair do you figure has been lost over the years on Sunday morning alone waiting to see if this guy was going to play or not? He isn’t, go on and enjoy your weekend.
Selvin Young, Broncos: How long has it been since you pondered starting Michael Pittman? Young is out this week with groin issues but should return in week 7. If you had Pittman as a handcuff, go for it. Keep in mind that Andre Hall is back there waiting too.
Laurence Maroney/ LaMont Jordan, Patriots: Maroney is practicing but is listed as questionable this week. Jordan is likely out with a bad calf. The Patriots running game is a mess for the fantasy football owner anyway. If you are desperate you can look at Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk…I’m not going to.
Darren McFadden/ Justin Fargus Raiders: McFadden is likely to play against New Orleans but we don’t know how much. Fargus is looking like the go to guy this week if you are going to start a raider at running back.
Willis McGahee, Ravens: The poor fella has just been banged up this season. It appears that his rib is not going to hold him back and he is practicing without issues. He has held off ray Rice this season but is losing some TD’s to LaRon McClain. Regardless, he should be a good play against the Colts bottom feeding run defense.
Willie Parker, Steelers: He is on a bye this week but it should be noted that he is expected to return in week seven. this should be a relief for those that were reaping the bonus rewards of having him as a later pick in drafts.
WR:
Marques Colston, Saints: The big WR injury news of the week is that Colston is expected to play against the raiders despite his questionable status. This should be a lift for those that have been watching their high WR draft pick sit on the bench week after week.
Anquan Boldin, Cardinals: This hurts…well, it doesn’t hurt us as much as it does him but Boldin looks to be out until at least week eight after the bye. Would have made a nice week against the Cowboys secondary too.
Brandon Lloyd, Bears: As much as we hate to admit it, a Bears injury has a fantasy impact this season. Don’t look for Lloyd this week. Marty Booker should get more looks. He has only caught three of 10 targets in the last few weeks…not good.
Darrell Jackson/ Eddie Royal, Broncos: Darrell Jackson may get the start if Eddie Royal (Doubtful, ankle) cannot play. Since nobody expected Jackson to mean anything this could be a bummer for those hoping it could be a break out week for Brandon Stokley. May be a situation to stay clear of unless you hear for sure on Sunday who is going to be in the lineup.
Joey Galloway, Bucs: Still not playing. He has likely been dropped from many a roster. Keep an eye on him. When he is ready to go you may want to jump on him, especially the 2nd game with the Saints as he is a Saints killer.
Vincent Jackson/ Chris Chambers, Chargers: It was looking like the Chargers could be down two WR’s this weekend. Now it appears that Jackson’s knee is well enough for him to go this weekend. Chris Chambers…not so much. He will sit this week.
Roddy White, Falcons: White has not been practicing and is questionable. May want to go in a different direction if you can this week at WR or watch for him Sunday AM. Going against the Bears who are middle of the pack against the pass.
Calvin Johnson/Roy Williams, Lions: Both guys have been limited in practice this week but are expected to play. Keep an eye out though. If the Lions decide to be cautious because they are without Jon Kitna anyway, someone could sit.
Bernard Berrian/Sidney Rice, Vikings: Both of these guys should be able to play this weekend. While we may think to lick our chops with them facing the Lions, the Vikings should be able to choose their game plan and it may be on the running side of the game.
TE:
Tony Scheffler, Broncos: Scheffler has turned out to be a fine fantasy option at TE this year but he isn’t going to help you this week. Hopefully you have roster room to hang on to him, he should return next week.
Jason Witten, Cowboys: There is no need to fear…Witten will play regardless of his probable status. This guy is a true Warrior at TE.
LJ Smith, Eagles: Smith is probable with a bad back. He should be playing this week and would be a great bye week filler at TE if he does.
Jeremy Shockey, Saints: Rumor had it that he may be able to go this week but not gonna happen. Watch out for Shockey next week to see if he is practicing. Hopefully if you have been hanging on to him it will pay off then.
