The Diary of a Pro Wrestling Fan (Ch.3):Discovering TNA, the IWC and More
We are all very different. We look different, sound different and all are from different places.
However, if you are reading this, then chances are you are a fan of pro wrestling.
In the first chapter of this series, I reminisced about how I became a fan of pro wrestling. In the second chapter, I talked about how I discovered pro wrestling was scripted, and the predigest that the sport and it's fans go through.
And lastly, I originally slated this to be two parts. However, I merged it into one because I felt it would be of much better length and quality this way.
So sit back, relax, and reflect upon your journey of fandom to sports' red-headed stepchild, professional wrestling.
The thing here is, I am actually going a bit farther back than the last part and then moving forward about a year ago. So you guys are just going to have to hang with me because I found this the best part to talk about my first memories of TNA Wrestling.
I remember that the first time I had heard of TNA, it was through Hunter. Now, I don't really remember much about it, but I watched TNA a couple of times afterwards. To be honest, I don't remember a lot of things about getting into TNA.
My first reaction was at how annoying both Don West and Jim Cornette are. They both overact situations and in West's case, screams throughout the entire show.
I tuned in and out, and remember having absolutely no clue what to think of the Main Event Mafia. I was mainly puzzled because I only watched the show when I remembered to. Because at this point, TNA was for a hardcore fan and at the time, that kind of a wrestling show didn't really interest me.
Anyway, I'm sorry for the lackluster beginning, but I simply don't remember much about watching TNA at this time. Now, I'm in the odd position of fast forwarding up to about a year and a half ago.
I Googled something about wrestling, I don't remember exactly what. I found numerous dirtsheets and this Web site.
I found something along the line of talking about heels and faces in wrestling. Unfortunately, I have no idea who wrote it. Anyway, it changed the way I looked at wrestling.
I began to really dig into the scripted side of wrestling. I started to root for heels and root against faces. Of course in wrestling, "rooting" for guys doesn't serve a real purpose, but what I'm trying to say is; many of my favorite wrestlers were now heels.
Eventually, I began to write storylines. This is where you could say I have no life, but that's for a different day.
Nonetheless, this is when I started to really pick at every little move the creative team made. This made me become a classic member of the Internet Wrestling Community.
That is where I will stop until next week, which will serve as my rant on the IWC and the final part of this series. So sorry for the randomness, until next time...
Thanks for reading!
