UFC 129 Preview: Mark Hominick's "Life Is Flipped Upside Down" Ahead of UFC 129
The hectic and grueling training camp a fighter must endure is a lot to take in, but for UFC featherweight contender, Mark Hominick, he is prepared to compete in the biggest fight of his career.
The London, Ontario native will look to challenge UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo at UFC 129 in front of 55,000 fans in attendance at the Rogers Centre. It is something Hominick has taken all in.
"It's just been crazy," the 28-year old said in a conference call.
"I've really been trying to enjoy the ride."
And what a ride it has been for Hominick.
He has earned five consecutive wins to earn a shot at his Brazilian opponent, as well as expecting the birth of his daughter.
While going through a few first-time experiences himself, Hominick acknowledges that his bout versus Aldo is another lifetime opportunity he is looking forward to.
"There's going to be no other time in my life that it's going to be this busy and hectic," Hominick explained.
"I'm just ready to go for April 30 and take all that momentum in the cage."
Oddsmakers have not been too kind to Hominick prior to this fight, but that's not something he cares too much for.
In his UFC debut at UFC 58, Hominick was also an underdog to his opponent, Yves Edwards. Hominick silenced the doubters by submitting Edwards and pulling off the shocking upset.
Now, Edwards is not Jose Aldo. But Hominick is aware of his opponent and his abilities, but he intends to do his job and follow through on his gameplan.
"He's well-deserving of being pound-for-pound king, though. But I'm going to go out there and fight my fight, and that's the biggest thing."
