QB: Fantasy Rankings For Week 6
Must Starts:
1. Eli Manning vs. Cleveland. Unless weather is a major factor in this one, the Giants should pretty much exert their will on the Browns’ defense Monday Night. They’ll look to set up the pass via the run, but once Jacobs and Co. begin to pound away at the Browns’ front 7, look for Eli to reconnect with his favorite target (Plaxico Burress) and the rest of the Giants’ talented receiving cast in what could be an air show. The Browns will most likely be forced to bring up a deep safety to help out in the run, and once this happens, watch for Manning to go deep on the play action. 250+ yards and a minimum of 2 TDs should be expected.
2. Donovan McNabb vs. San Fransisco. McNabb and the Eagles are in a funk, and what better way to break out of it than a trip to the Bay Area? In a game that Philly might have to play without star RB Brian Westbrook, the Eagles’ QB should get back to putting up the big numbers we’ve all become accustomed to when facing lesser teams. The Niners haven’t stopped anyone through the air and Nolan’s defensive scheme is now coming under fire from both media and players alike. Even Matt Cassel, the QB who had a horrible day vs. Miami two weeks ago was able to go off against the 49ers. Look for McNabb to put up between 250-300 yards and hit on at least two scores through the air.
3. Carson Palmer vs. the Jets. Although Cincy is 0-5, they’re not as bad as their record indicates. They took the Super Bowl Champion Giants to the brink in an OT loss and had Dallas on the ropes last week before giving the game away with a late fumble by RB Chris Perry. Against the Jets, Palmer and Co. should be able to put up big numbers through the air and attack the Jets’ secondary which hasn’t been all that stout this season. In what has all the makings of a high scoring game, look for Palmer to excel.
Sleepers:
1. Jason Campbell vs. St. Louis. Campbell could’ve been a top 3 play this week because he is facing the Lambs. This should be an easy win for Washington unless they fall back to earth a bit after two emotional, hard fought victories over Dallas and Philly, and I see both the running game, and passing game, having a lot of success. Look for Campbell to get his scores early because if they are able to go up by 14 points in the 1st half, it’ll be a heavy dose of Portis and Betts from then on out.
2. Kurt Warner vs. Dallas. The Cowboys are heading out to the desert after receiving a lot of flack for their close victory over the winless Bengals last week, so they’re a bit upset and feel they have something to prove. Unfortunately for them, teams usually don’t fare so well in the dry desert air and its defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone of late… especially through the air. If Boldin returns this week, it’ll be a lift to the Cards’ offense, but even if not, Fitzgerald and Co. should be able to consistently find openings in the Cowboys’ secondary leading to a big day by Warner.
