PW Top 25: The Return of The Anarchy

Ron JohnsonOct 8, 2008

#1) Degeneration X (RAW/SmackDown!)

For one week, DX was the Kings of the Wrestling World. Then Chris Jericho ruined a best laid plan by retaining his championship and defeating Shawn Michaels in his signature match. But on the lighter side, Triple H did keep Jeff Hardy from achieving his goal and retained the WWE Championship at No Mercy.

#2) Chris Jericho (RAW)

Monday Night RAW

The new Chris Jericho has managed to survive his second title defense by defeating HBK in Michaels’ own match. Now Jericho has a bigger Animal to deal with at Cyber Sunday.

#3) Matt Hardy (ECW)

Matt did the impossible. Matt did the unthinkable. While his brother is wondering what could have been, Matt did it all and shocked Mark Henry to retain the ECW Championship. Now that’s fulfilling a tall order.

#4) Batista (RAW)

The Animal made his message loud and clear: No more close calls. He took JBL and Santino on RAW, helped his team to victory on SD!, and earned his right to face Jericho at Cyber Sunday.

#5) CM Punk (RAW)

The former World Heavyweight Champion is still out for redemption from the Tag Champs and their Samoan Buddy. After a week of getting payback, it’s only a matter of time before Mr. Straight Edge looks to get back the World Title.

#6) Big Show (SmackDown!)

The World’s Largest Athlete decimated the Deadman at No Mercy. But has he set himself up for something more dangerous to come? Or has he lived up to his word that he has killed the spirit of the Undertaker?

#7) LAX (TNA)

After losing the services of Hector Guerrero last week, the Xchange got back on the ball by not only qualifying for the Midway Monsters Ball, but also doing their part in making it a Fatal Four Way for the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

#8) Samoa Joe (TNA)

The TNA World Champion is fired up for his chance to silence the ego of Sting. This Sunday, he gets his chance as he defends the gold at Bound IV Glory. But until then, everyone should keep their distance from him.

#9) Jeff Jarrett (TNA)

The King of the Mountain earned this spot by not only accepting the opportunity to silence Kurt Angle permanently but also bring a little hardcore to TNA with the acquisition of Mick Foley.

#10) Beth Phoenix (RAW)

The Glamazon was on a rampage. She took out the Divas Champion on SmackDown! with the assist from Maryse. Then she emerges victorious in her match against Candice Michelle. Now the question is who will step up to challenge her stake to being the most dominant diva in WWE?

#11) Carlito & Primo (SmackDown!)

The Brothers Colon are on top of the tag team world as they shocked Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder to become the Tag Team Champions. To top it all off, The Dirt Sheet has run out of egotistical names for the other tag teams. Sucks for them because the Colons are feeling, dare I say it…COOL!

#12) Rey Mysterio (RAW)

The King of 619 survived the vicious assaults of Kane, and he managed to keep his heritage alive by surviving Kane at No Mercy. Now maybe this anarchy over his hidden identity is officially over.

#13) Booker T (TNA)

The five-time World Champion has managed to win matches and go from British to Ghetto to African in a matter of months. But he doesn’t have a clue how much he is butchering his own legacy by pulling this new stunt. Maybe if he’ll actually open the case, he’ll get his style and his groove back.

#14) Kofi Kingston (RAW)

Alongside CM Punk, Kingston got another measure of revenge on the Tag Champions. But in the process, they managed to shut up one of the WWE’s biggest mouths: MVP. But Kofi and Punk may have something bigger in mind. Take the gold. Take the power.

#15) Jeff Hardy (SmackDown!)

The only reason that SmackDown! has been a good show to watch is mainly because of the tenacity of Jeff Hardy. Honestly, I think he should have won the WWE Championship at No Mercy. But the powers that be didn’t share the best interest of the fans and decided that they should punish Hardy some more for his past transgressions.

#16) Vladimir Kozlov (SmackDown!)

I want to make this clear: this Moscow Mauler has no personality and yet he’s still getting face time on television. So just have him face Triple H and Jeff Hardy for the gold at Cyber Sunday so we never have to see that mailbox head of his again.

#17) Roxxi (TNA)

The Voodoo Hardcore Queen got one over on Awesome Kong, and this Thursday night, she joins up with Taylor Wilde to face Kong and Raisha Saeed (who hopefully won’t be too tied up to show up).

#18) The Knockouts (TNA)

The Knockouts are proving that they’re tougher than the Divas of the WWE. Don’t believe me? Tell Beth Phoenix to go one on one with Awesome Kong. Then ask Santino which piece he wants back. The Knockouts are as good as expected. So they all earn their spot for the constant display of skills, beauty & power.

#19) The Monstrous Blueprint (TNA)

Since becoming a tag team, Abyss and Matt Morgan have been unstoppable. Now after making their intentions clear, they have a chance to get some momentum heading into this Sunday’s Midway Monsters Ball at Bound IV Glory when they face Beer Money.

#20) Santino (RAW)

He may be annoying and irritating, but Santino holds a victory over Shelton Benjamin thanks to R-Truth. But to keep things entertaining, someone will have to snap his streak as IC Champion either one week before the streak is broken or anytime sooner.

#21) Sting (TNA)

The Icon has been out for respect over the past few months. Now he has a chance to prove himself one more time this Sunday at Bound IV Glory. But in his best interest, he might want to actually wrestle this Sunday instead of running his mouth about respect. Because if all he does is talk, he will get choked out.

#22) Kurt Angle (TNA)

The Olympic Champion has been on the sidelines since losing at No Surrender. Now he has what he wanted in a match with Jeff Jarrett this Sunday. But he also has something he didn’t want: He’s got Mick Foley as Special Referee.

#23) Randy Orton (RAW)

The Legend Killer is arguably the perfect heel/face in WWE right now. Despite being sidelined with a collarbone injury, Orton has managed to find new and exciting ways to piss off the GMs of both RAW and SmackDown! Maybe they made the wrong choice bringing in Adamle to run the show. It’s clear who’s got the stroke on RAW.

#24) Mick Foley (TNA)

The Hardcore Legend made his presence felt for the first time on TNA this past Thursday. This week, there’s no telling what the newest member of TNA has in store for Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett before Sunday’s epic match at Bound IV Glory.

#25) Beer Money, Inc. (TNA)

You may not like their methods, but those methods get the job done. This Sunday they got three teams who want what they got: The TNA Tag Team Championships. But if you still don’t agree with them, they say it all the time, and it’s still true to this moment: Sorry about your damn luck.
