Breaking: Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor Considering 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft
When faced with the decision of sitting the first five games of the 2011 college football season or taking his chance in the NFL Supplemental Draft, it appears that Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is having a tough time making his decision.
You may remember that, way back in December, Pryor was suspended for the Buckeyes' first five games and allowed to play in the Sugar Bowl if he would forego the NFL draft and return to Columbus for his senior season.
Pryor agreed, and we are still not sure why.
Now it seems that neither is he.
Our friends at the National Football Post are reporting, via an unnamed source, that "the odds of Pryor staying for his senior season are about 60-40." Pryor is reportedly considering making himself available for the NFL's supplemental draft—held each summer via email.
Whether or not Pryor actually goes back on his word and leaves Ohio State for the NFL's supplemental draft, and if he is considering the option, are different matters altogether.
Let's look at the facts:
—Pryor would not be a first-round pick in the mid-July supplemental draft
—Pryor would lose out on millions of dollars in future marketing and endorsement deals surrounding Ohio State if he were to leave the school
—Pryor is not NFL-ready
Had Pryor entered the 2011 NFL draft, he would have carried, at best, a late second-round grade—not encouraging for a player many consider to be immature and troubled off the field.
The best move for Pryor is to return to Columbus, play the seven or eight games he is eligible for and try to perfect his game as a quarterback.
