End-of-Season Sabermetric Stats for Hitters and Pitchers

Zach FeinOct 6, 2008

This isn't an article to review how various projection systems did in their predictions; nor is it one to make any "spin" of some sort on the stats that follow.

No, this is just an article to post sabermetric stats for players (with 200 PAs for hitters, and 60 IP for pitchers). The spreadsheet is at the end of the article.

Players with high BABIP rates are said to be lucky, while low BABIP rates mean a player has been unlucky.

Mike Fontenot125.7Andruw Jones22.3
Shin-Soo Choo125.2Tony Pena Jr.3.4

(See spreadsheet for explanation of OW.)

You see the usual names in the top 10, but then Mike Fontenot and Shin-Soo Choo come up—that's because they did a lot with little opportunity.

Top and Bottom Wins Saved Using wOBA

Roy Halladay is tops, but that can partly be contributed for his high amount of innings pitched.

Want to see all the data? You can find it here. It comes with three worksheets: one for batting stats, one for pitching stats, and one for information such as column headings.

If you see any problems with my calculations, or want me to include another stat, feel free to leave me a comment below.
