Boston Celtics: Does Losing to the Miami Heat Mean Anything for the Playoffs?
Do pigs fly? Do zebras moo? Do cats bark? No.
And that coincidentally is the answer to the question.
The fact of the matter is that the Celtics have been together for so long and have gelled so much, that I’m not sure the Heat are ready to take them out, yet.
When Danny Ainge decided to pull the trigger sending Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic, Celtic-land was worried—and rightfully so. Perkins brought a brutal mentality to the paint and was the anchor for the Celtics during their recent runs.
The Celtics are now 14-10 since dealing Perkins.
Am I worried though? Not a chance.
The Celtics have so much leadership on this team. However, that comes along with age. Last year, the Celtics realized that they had to make a couple of moves in order to win another championship as their stars creep downhill in their careers.
I fully believe that this is the breaking point, the last year and the last chance for Garnett, Allen and Pierce to win another NBA Title.
Jeff Green, the main centerpiece for the Celtics, is averaging 9.2 PPG and 2.6 RPG, a far cry from what Boston was expecting. In OKC, he averaged 15.2 PPG and 5.6 RPG. However, Green is a playmaker and an exciting player, and he can turn the tables on any team he wants.
Once again, I am not concerned that their title hopes are supposedly diminishing, but this will be the Celtics last chance at a title for quite some time.
