NFL: Contingency Plans for NFL Teams

Raider Card AddictOct 3, 2008

For some reason, you came into this season full of hope. Players were healthy, you had a good feeling, the mojo was working.
Then someone started the year, and it all fell apart.
Maybe it was a fumble, an injury to your QB, or even worse, a complete lack of order, that's killing your team, and your season. There's a few clubs out there, that have this issue. The solution? A good contingency plan, to both limit the damage, and keep your team fully functional.
Our first case, is of course, New England. A lot of people had this team looking good, but not as functional as last year's powerhouse, once Tom Brady went south.
Solution? Tuning down the offense to so low-risk, decent rewards will keep this team functioning. Granted, owners of Randy Moss will hate not having a TD every week, but which is better, a win, or a TD and a loss?
Our second case, is the Bengals. The last few seasons have been a roller-coaster, with everyone first believing in Carson Palmer as the next great solution. However, the last couple seasons, we've seen them go from 8-8, to 7-9, and now, 0-4.
Solution? They need to get back to the basics, ball control, get their heads about....and if all else fails....replacing a coach who's lost control of his ship.
Oakland? Well, replacing a coach is one step, some people feel the wrong coach was fired....However, with Ryan on Defense, and former O-line coach now at head with Cable, there's a good chance the two coaches may see eye to eye on this matter.
The other hope, is Al Davis has too much sun during the offweek, and finally cashes out.
Cleveland Browns? Well, it's too much to hope for bad opponents to get out of the cellar, but they did win against the Bengals....however, for people who bet on the Browns to make the playoffs this year, it's a long stretch. To solve this problem, i'm in the boat that Anderson is out, and give the job over to Brady Quinn. Hey, what's the worst thing that could happen? Well, putting Anderson back in.
St Louis Rams, like the Raiders, are looking at a new coach. The only problem, is that it's anyone's guess if this will help the situation....or simply prove that there's more than just coaching problems infesting the team. The Solution here, is give the team about 3 weeks to run the squads. If they are 0-7....It's time to go deeper into replacing guys. And hope the fans keep their loyalty before the Blues steal the fans away.
Kansas City Chiefs, another team that before last week, looked pretty bad, get some redemption. They also get credit for for getting off the slide, winning against Denver. Their example, of sticking to Larry Johnson paid off, after he looked lukewarm against Oakland earlier this year.
Right now, it's obvious that St Louis is in the top spot for the 2009 Draft. Who comes next? It's a toss up between the Bengals, Lions, Chiefs, and a few other clubs with a single win.
Tune back in, in 3 weeks...we'll see how the shuffle works.
RCA, signing out.
