Top 10 Wrestlers Who Never Won a World Title
Here's the top 10 for the all-time best wrestlers who never got the chance to be the flagship of the company via the world title.
10) Rowdy Roddy Piper
Despite headlining Wrestlemania, "Hot Rod" never got the chance to win the big one. He had all the tools, from gift of the gab to being a talented storyteller. Way ahead of his time, Piper could never be champ with a small time player, Hogan, who just happened to blow up at the same time.
9) Honky Tonk Man
The longest reining Intercontinental Champion in history. In most cases, the IC title is a catapult to the world title. So does the fact that HTM never even came close to main eventing make him a failure? Probably not, but it is disappointing.
8) Ted DiBiase
Now before you get your panties in a bunch screaming he was champ, this is all about people who never "won" the belt. So buying the belt off of Andre the Giant doesn't count here, even if he was the one who loss the title.
With that being said, he was one of wrestling's most captivating performers. It's a shame that his son will capture the title before he will.
7) Jake Roberts
Where did he go wrong? Almost every known wrestler acknowledges that The Snake had one of the best minds in the business. What makes it ironic that he has seemed to have lost his mind somewhere over a decade ago.
The irony is almost as unfortunate as how Muhammad Ali was known for his gift of gab, yet can't put a sentence together now. The difference is that Ali didn't know when to hang up the gloves, while Jake couldn't put down the drugs.
6) Rick Rude
One of the best heels in the game, The Ravishing one knew how to attract the ladies and make all the men jealous. And his in-ring work wasn't bad either.
5) Owen Hart
Lost truly before his time. His battles with big brother Bret were legendary. It would have only been a matter of time before he was crowned champ.
4) Jeff Hardy
He should change his theme song to My Own Worst Enemy by Lit. He just can't seem to keep it together. He's always one big push away... and then the brass ring goes up in smoke.
3) Curt Hennig
Simply Perfect. Curt had it all... well, except size. But even as the steroid era of wrestling kicked in, McMahon could have easily gone to Perfect to carry the company as he did Bret Hart. But then again, maybe he didn't have the wholesome lifestyle outside the ring as Bret made it seem that he had.
2) Arn Anderson
Double A was the man, plain and simple. Being one of the only men to beat Hulk Hogan in back-to-back matches says something (since Hogan had complete creative control). His DDT became the most stolen move in the game, and his spinebuster is copied by the Game himself.
A true legend, his interviews and matches are still great to watch this day. Forever known as one of the best tag team performers to ever walk that aisle, it's a shame he had to hold Flair's belts instead of wrapping heavyweight gold around his own waist.
1) Scott Hall
Although a champ back in the days of AWA, the Bad Guy never seemed able to be the main guy in either of the two big organizations. He captured everyone's attention with a battle versus HBK at Wrestlemania in the first mainstream ladder match, and again as a part of the history-making duo the Outsiders.
Yet, he was always the goofy sidekick and never the main attraction. It didn't help that his personal life never achieved the success that he reached in front of the camera. He's one of the best wrestlers from his generation, and it's almost amazing how he didn't become world champ.
