Week Six Game of the Week: Ohio State at Wisconsin
The Buckeyes' trip to Madison will determine two things of significant importance: (1) which team is the better threat to Penn State for the Big Ten title and (2) how good Ohio State is when Chris Wells plays healthy.
Heisman Trophy leading candidates
1. Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford
2. Missouri QB Chase Daniel
3. Texas QB Colt McCoy
4. Michigan State RB Javon Ringer
5. BYU QB Max Hall
This Week’s Shame On…Florida (lost 31-30 to Mississippi at home)
Coming into the game against the Rebels, Florida had yet to turn the ball over. However, the Gators fumbled five times Saturday and lost three. Not to mention, an extra point was blocked that would have tied the game.
Ultimately, quarterback Tim Tebow wasn’t himself. He didn’t run with a punisher's mentality, and when his team needed him most, he couldn’t convert on a 4th-and-1 to keep a potential game-winning drive alive.
Upset Pick of the Week: Northern Illinois over Tennessee
At 1-3 thus far, the Volunteers are struggling mightily on offense, and it doesn’t seem like they will improve dramatically as the season progresses. Meanwhile, Northern Illinois fits the bill as a team that can outscrap Tennessee as it continues to suffer. Despite the game being held in Knoxville, keep an eye on the Huskies to take down Rocky Top.
Team on Upset Alert: Missouri
The No. 4 Tigers walk into Lincoln this Saturday and should expect to face a difficult test. Although Nebraska is not at the caliber of Big 12 powerhouses Oklahoma and Texas, it is formidable enough to pose a challenge for Missouri.
Despite the loss at home to Virginia Tech last Saturday night, the Cornhuskers proved they can score points offensively. However, it is up to their defense to stop the super-potent Tigers on offense, which is the strength of head coach Bo Pelini as a former defensive coordinator.
