Shane Mosley Engages Manny Pacquiao on Twitter
In an apparent move to drum-up his upcoming fight with boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao, former three-weight division title holder, Shane Mosley, has just activated his Twitter account. And his first salvo was addressed to the pound-for pound king.
Mosley said he wants to give fans unfiltered story on how he feels about Manny Pacquiao in relation to their upcoming fight.
"Fans want the story behind the fight, and I'm here to give it to them—unfiltered, unedited and in it's purest form," said Shane Mosley. "I'm using Twitter to let my fans know exactly how I feel about Pacquiao... It's #SugarTime."
Mosley's first salvo on Twitter reads: "Hey Pacquiao (@congMP), I'm going to beat you so hard that you're going to need botox just to take the worry off your face! #SugarTime"
Less than two months before he faces Pacquiao in the ring, Mosley is still a 6-1 underdog. That forecast has remained unchanged despite wide publicity on his previous quality fights, as well as his efforts and strategies in preparing for his upcoming collision with the Filipino boxer.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, said he is pleased with how Manny Pacquiao looks and moves in this training camp in Baguio City—five weeks before he collides with Mosley in Las Vegas.
“He looks terrific. He looks very, very good,” said Arum.
Arum flew in to Baguio to check on the superstar's high-altitude training under Freddie Roach.
“This is so early, and look how great he is. He can fight next week, probably,” exclaimed the 79-year-old promoter.
Arum is particularly impressed with the way Pacquiao has developed his new powerhouse—his right hand.
“I like the way he’s been using that right hand, because I really believe that the right hand is gonna tell the story of the fight,” said Arum.
“Everybody knows that the left hand is his power hand, so Mosley’s gonna be looking for that left hand. But I think he’s using his right hand tremendously, and that’s gonna be his big weapon,” he added.
Pacquiao's sparring sessions will start next week with Shaun Porter and David Rodela, who arrived in the Philippines Tuesday.
Mosley is currently training at his Big Bear Mountain training camp, and is being trained for the fight by Nazim Richardson.
Richardson said they have been studying Pacquiao moves and how to counter his punches.
"A young man may be able to outrun you, but if you're older and experienced, you may know a shortcut to get faster than the young man," he said.
Pacquiao and Mosley collide on May 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
