Vitali Klitschko Promises Not To Hit His Next Opponent for First Three Rounds!

Vitali SMar 21, 2011

There you have it, Vitali Klitschko himself promises to stay away and keep his hands off his next opponent for the first three rounds. While it’s obvious that this statement cannot be serious, I do think there is some authenticity to it.

This past Saturday, Vitali beat Odlanier Solis via a first round TKO. After connecting with a few shots through the round, Vitali landed what looked like a half uppercut and half hook, sending Solid backwards and down.

There was a little problem in his victory: Solis got up, but was unable to continue due to an injured knee, which was later confirmed via an M.D. So what does this mean for Vitali? Does his victory lose its meaning?

According to his video response, Vitali assures us that he landed a well practiced punch, and Solid was on his way down. Vitali also states that whatever happened after the punch is Solis’s problem, indicating that his victory was clear.

I can see where Vitali is coming from: after such long preparation, a fighter usually wants to display his skills and accumulate some rounds. This fight, while allowed Vitali to place another “W” on his record, did more damage than good. The worst part of it, for a fighter Vitali’s age, was the waste of valuable time, of which he has awfully little left.

What was apparent is that Vitali is planning on fighting again, and likely sooner then later. Hopefully we will see him face off against a great opponent (unfortunately I cannot think of one formidable opponent for him at this point in time).
