Wrestlemania XXVII: The Undertaker's Streak and What It Means to Wrestlemania
The Undertaker's character is the most unique and unbelievable in wrestling history.
To think that a character can, in fact, be a "dead man" from Death Valley is horrifying and awe-inspiring. Add in the fact that Mark Calaway makes this character come to life and believably adds an entirely different element to its mystique.
"The Streak" had a beginning back in 1991 against Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, the question now becomes: Will it ever have an end? Should it have an end at all?

Those questions and the history surrounding "The Streak" are true and also appear to be the intimidation factor for opponents. While The Undertaker himself is a very intimidating figure, "The Streak" makes him that much more intimidating. Not only are you facing "The Deadman," you're facing history and 18 others that have failed before you. That's exactly what Triple H has in store for him in Atlanta on April 3rd.
To say that The Undertaker brings his A-game at Wrestlemania is a major understatement. This is his event and he goes full throttle every single spring for this one night that he lives for.
The Undertaker's accumulated Hall of Famers onto his illustrious record 18 consecutive Wrestlemania wins. Names like Snuka, Jake Roberts, Diesel, Kane (twice), Ric Flair, Edge, Shawn Michaels (twice) and Triple H (twice?), to list a few.
Who's left for Taker to prove himself against after this Wrestlemania, given that he defeats "The Game".
Is it John Cena who's the next worthy opponent for 'Taker? How about a newcomer like Wade Barrett? Will any of these men ever end "The Streak"? How about The Rock? The questions and possibilities are endless, but the aura of "The Streak" remains year after year. With each win, "The Streak" becomes stronger and more of a daunting task for challengers.
People may not know who will be on the card at Wrestlemania when they buy their tickets, but they can bet on The Undertaker's streak being on the line. But 18-0 is a streak that will never be matched by anyone in the WWE.
During "The Streak," The Undertaker has ended careers (Michaels) and altered lives forever (fans).
While "The Deadman" is now slowing down significantly at 46, he's still good for that one big Wrestlemania performance each year. Although he's been carried as of late by the great "HBK" Shawn Michaels, it still takes a whole lot to stay with Michaels for nearly a half hour.
Many consider their first encounter at Wrestlemania XXV to be the greatest match ever.
All who have ever been in an arena when The Undertaker enters know just that feeling that you get when the lights go out and you hear that gong. The lighters would go up in the old days (now cell phones) and a noticeable chill would sweep through the air.
To put it bluntly, if you've experienced it live, it's one of those feelings that you never forget. This adds to his Undertaker mystique and makes him who he is. It transforms him from Mark Calaway into "The Deadman".
The Undertaker character itself is supposed to be everlasting and never die, therefore, the same goes for "The Streak."
