Georges St-Pierre and the Top 11 Canadian Fighters All Time

The UFC comes to Toronto this Saturday! 

UFC 129 will be the biggest card in North American history.

In the main event of the evening, Georges St-Pierre will be taking on Jake Shields, and in the co-main event Jose Aldo will be taking on Mark Hominick.

Throughout UFC history, there have been numerous Canadian fighters to grace the Octagon. Georges St-Pierre is one of them, Mark Hominick is another.

Mark Bocek (9-3) is a current UFC lightweight. Bocek's three losses have all been in the UFC, and all have been to top level competition.

He has lost to Jim Miller, Mac Danzig and Frankie Edgar. Not that bad eh?

Bocek is a two time submission of the night winner, with the awards coming against Dustin Hazelett and Joe Brammer respectively.

Bocek will be opening up the main card at UFC 129, where he will take on former WEC Lightweight Champion, Ben Henderson.

Claude Patrick (13-1) is the former TFC Canadian MMA Welterweight Champion, and a current UFC welterweight.

Patrick's lone career loss came in the form of a decision at the hands of Drew McFedries in what was only his second career fight. 

Patrick has fought twice in the UFC, and will be fighting at UFC 129 where he will be taking on Daniel Roberts on the undercard of the event.

9. Sam Stout

Sam Stout (16-6-1) is the former TKO Major League MMA Champion and a current UFC lightweight.

Stout is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, as he has put on five fight of the night worthy fights. Two were against Spencer Fisher, and then Stout rattled off three in a row against Matt Wiman, Joe Lauzon and Jeremy Stephens.

Stout's next fight will be at UFC 131, where he will take on Yves Edwards on the Spike TV portion of the card.

8. Jason MacDonald

Jason MacDonald (24-14) is a current UFC middleweight.

MacDonald was last seen fighting at UFC 113, where he lost in the first round via TKO from a broken leg (ouch).

MacDonald is another exciting fighter, as he has won Submission of the Night three times, and knockout of the night once.

He returns from the broken leg to take on Ryan Jensen on the undercard of UFC 129.

7. Nick Ring

Nick Ring (11-0) is a current UFC middleweight.

Ring was a participant on Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter, where he was forced to pull out due to an ACL injury.

In Ring's first UFC fight, he won a controversial decision over Riki Fukuda at UFC 127.

In his next fight, he is set to take on James Head at UFC 131.

6. Patrick Cote

Patrick Cote (14-7) is a former UFC title challenger and a current fighter with Ringside MMA.

Cote was the first person to make it into the third round with Anderson Silva in the UFC. He ended up losing via TKO due to a knee injury.

He went 4-7 in the UFC and was then released. In his last fight, he defeated fellow UFC vet Kalib Starnes via unanimous decision.

His next fight has yet to be announced.

5. Krzysztof Soszynski

Krzysztof Soszynski (25-11-1) is a current UFC light heavyweight.

Yes, I know. His nickname is "The Polish Experiment." He was born in Poland, but moved to Canada at the age of 10, and he is listed as Polish and Canadian, so he counts.

In Soszynski's last fight, he took on Goran Reljic and won a unanimous decision.

His next fight is going to be against Anthony Perosh at UFC 131.

4. Rory MacDonald

Rory MacDonald (10-1) is the former KOTC World Lightweight Champion and a current UFC welterweight.

In MacDonald's last fight, he lost the first fight of his pro career when Carlos Condit TKO'd him in the third round with only seven seconds left in the fight.

He is now set to fight Nate Diaz at UFC 129 on the Spike TV portion of the card.

3. Mark Hominick

Mark Hominick (20-8) is the current No. 1 contender to Jose Aldo's Featherweight title.

In Hominick's last fight, he defeated George Roop via TKO in 88 seconds to become the No. 1 contender.

Aldo and Hominick will now fight in the co-main event of UFC 129.

Hominick is the most lethal striker that Aldo will have ever faced. This fight is going to produce fireworks.

2. Carlos Newton

Carlos Newton (15-14) is the former UFC Welterweight Champion and current Impact FC fighter.

Newton was the second UFC Welterweight Champion in history and the first Canadian champion in the history of the promotion.

Newton defeated Pat Miletich at UFC 31 to win the title.

In Newton's last fight he lost a decision to Brian Ebersole.

Georges St-Pierre (21-2) is the most dominant Canadian fighter in history.

In his last fight, he laid a 5 round smackdown on Josh Koscheck, and used a stiff jap to close Koscheck's eye early in the fight.

Now, this Saturday, Georges St-Pierre will face "his most lethal foe" in Jake Shields at UFC 129.

GSP is the most dominant champion in Canadian history, one of the most dominant champions in UFC history, and is headlining the biggest card in North American history.

It's pretty safe to say he's the top Canadian fighter of all time.
