My Favorite WWE Entrance Themes of All Time
If there was one thing that really gets me excited about wrestling, it's the entrance songs. Whether it was hearing the glass breaking or hearing "if ya smellll," I always got pumped.
A great entrance song describes the wrestler's character. Hearing Stone Cold's entrance let you know that the guy coming down the ramp was one bmf. When you hear "if ya smellll," you think of some really pretentious jerk that you can't help but like. Great entrance songs are timeless and evoke a loud reaction from the fans.
Honorable Mention: John Cena: "Basic Thuganomics" Used:2003-2005
1 of 21What can I say? I like rap/hip hop and this song fit John Cena perfectly when he was The Doctor of Thuganomics.
John Cena's character from this time frame was insanely over with the crowd. He had great feuds with Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Booker T and even Carlito.
Honorable Mention: Kane: "Burned" Used: 1997-1999
2 of 21Ah yes, the days when Kane was darker and scarier than The Undertaker. This theme was used by Kane in perhaps his character's greatest time period.
Kane was pure evil and he kicked ass like no other.
Honorable Mention: The Rock: "Do You Smell It" Used: 1998-1999
3 of 21During this time in The Rock's career he was becoming a top guy in the business. He won the WWF Championship and became the "corporate" champion by way of Vince and Shane McMahon.
In a matter of weeks, The Rock was the biggest heel in the WWF. As a heel, he feuded with Mick Foley and Stone Cold Steve Austin. He then proceed to turn face and become one of the biggest stars of all time.
Honorable Mention: Chris Jericho: "Break the Walls Down(V2)" Used: 1999-2001
4 of 21This is when Chris Jericho really grew on me. RAW truly was Jericho during this time period and Jericho never failed to impress me. From his witty promos and his entertaining chemistry with nearly everyone, Jericho was at his peak.
Honorable Mention: Batista: "Monster" Used: 2002-2005
5 of 21During this time, Batista was truly the animal. He didn't have the best mic skills in the world but he was so huge and such a wrecking machine that most people didn't care. This was before Batista became the friendly animal.
No. 15 Ultimate Warrior: "Way of the Warrior" Used: 1987-1991, 1992,1996
6 of 21Ultimate Warrior is probably the biggest what if in WWE history. If the Ultimate Warrior behaved like a professional, Bret Hart would not have the WWE success that he had. This theme was known to get fans on their feet and perfectly described the Ultimate Warrior's intense persona.
No. 14 Triple H: "My Time" Used: 1999-2000
7 of 21This theme to me resembles the Triple H that I loved to hate. Since The Rock was my favorite at the time, I hated Triple H with a passion. Especially in 2000.
This theme fit Triple H perfectly because he had finally established himself as a main event caliber superstar in the WWF.
No. 13 Undertaker: "Ministry(V3)" Used: 1999
8 of 21The Ministry version of The Undertaker. 1999 was the year that the corporate ministry took over the WWF. This was my favorite version of The Undertaker after The American Bad Ass.
It was during this time that The Undertaker had his incredible feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin.
No. 12 Steve Austin: "Glass Shatters" Used: 2000-2001
9 of 21Around this time, Stone Cold Steve Austin recently returned from neck surgery and was fighting his way back up the WWF ladder. After winning his third Royal Rumble, Austin faced off against The Rock and won the WWF Championship and then turning heel.
While this theme didn't last too long, it stuck with me throughout the years for its intensity and incredible sound.
No. 11 Kurt Angle: "Medal(V2)" Used: 1999-2000, 2000-2005
10 of 21When you hear this song, it's almost impossible not to chant "you suck." When I hear this song the first thing that comes to my mind is patriotism. Kurt Angle was that and more, and it's sad to know that he isn't a WWE wrestler anymore.
No. 10 Hulk Hogan "Real American" Used: 1987-1993, 2003-2007
11 of 21I never experienced Hulkamania at it's height, but Hogan's theme has always made me smile. This theme sent all the fans in the arena completely nuts and used by Hogan during his best time period.
No. 9 Brock Lesnar: "Next Big Thing" Used: 2002-2004
12 of 21Here comes the pain! That was the phrase used by former WWE commentator Taz every time Brock Lesnar entered the arena. His statement was correct.
Brock Lesnar was a force that WWE fans hadn't seen in ages. He was agile, strong as hell, and a great ring technician. In two years time, Brock Lesnar was a three-time WWE Champion, Royal Rumble winner, King of the Ring, and he had main evented WM and won.
Most guys don't accomplish that in a 15-year career.
No. 8 RAW IS WAR: "Were All Together Now" Used: 1998-2002
13 of 21Who said I couldn't use a WWE show theme? This was the first thing we heard every Monday during the Attitude Era.
Every time I heard this, I was pumped for the show. I remember watching the camera shoe fans all over the arena with signs and going nuts.
No. 7 Bret Hart: " Hitman" Used: 1993-1997
14 of 21When you heard this, you knew that you were in for a show. Bret Hart used this theme while he was the top guy in the WWF along with Shawn Michaels. He put on some of the greatest matches in wrestling history during this time also.
No. 6 Edge: "Metalingus (WWE Edit)" Used: 2004-
15 of 21I love this theme song, especially the intro. This song suites Edge perfectly. It's also nice to know that Edge started using this theme as he was ascending to the top of the WWE ladder.
No. 5b Chris Jericho: "Break the Walls Down (V8- Intro Cut)" Used: 2008-2010
16 of 21This is my favorite Chris Jericho because he used this during his "best in the world at what he does" time period.
It didn't have the intro like the other Jericho themes, and it fit perfectly because Jericho was trying to rid himself of his former ways.
No. 5a the Rock: "It's Conquered (V2)" Used: 2003
17 of 21The Rock used this theme during his Hollywood gimmick. I remember this from his WM 19 match with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Even though The Rock didn't use this them for long, it stuck with me throughout the years.
No. 4 Steve Austin: "I Won't Do What You Tell Me" Used: 1998-2000, 2001-
18 of 21The theme that sent fans to near riot every time the glass shattered. The BMF walk, the vest and of course JR screaming "Stone Cold!" "Stone Cold!" was pure entertainment.
Week in and week out, Austin was the toughest son of bitch in the world. From beer bashes to ass whipping, this theme brings back great memories.
No. 3 the Rock: "Know Your Role" Used: 1999-2001, 2004, 2008
19 of 21The greatest theme song ever used by The Rock in my opinion. The Rock switched over to this theme song after he solidified his name as the top WWF star and one of the greats.
Once "if ya smelllll" came on, fans went crazy and didn't stop until The Rock's promo was over.
No. 2 Steve Austin: "Hell Frozen Over" Used: 1996-1998
20 of 21In my opinion, this is Austin's greatest theme song of all time. This song reeks of pure bad ass. After Austin became "Stone Cold" in 1996, he was given this theme song to go along with his new found attitude.
No. 1 Chris Benoit: "Whatever" Used: 2002-2007
21 of 21This theme song is, in my opinion, the greatest theme song ever used by a wrestler. From the intro to the ending, it has it all. Every time I listen to this song, I picture Chris Benoit winning the World Heavyweight Championship with tears in his eyes.
The song describes Benoit's passion for wrestling as well as his intensity.
