WWE: 10 Things That Must Be Done Before Wrestlemania XXVIII
Hey there bleachers!
As I was watching the lackluster Monday Night Raw the other week, I started thinking of all the things the WWE should do to make 2011 a much better year than 2010.
I have compiled a list of the 10 best ideas I came up with, so here they are.
These are in no particular order I just wrote them as I thought of them. Enjoy!
1. Bring back Y2J
1 of 11
Chris Jericho needs to come back by the end of next year in my opinion, as he is very good at developing new talent and doesn’t mind putting them over.
With a decent feud, he could shake up the WWE just like the Rock has recently.
Many will disagree with what I am saying, but the two times he has made his entrance on WWE television, they have been epic to say the least.
2. Providing the Streak Survives, a Good Feud for The Undertaker
2 of 11
If the Undertaker’s streak survives this year’s Wrestlemania he will be 19-0 and just one win away from making it a nice round 20.
WWE has not given itself much time to build the feud between Undertaker and Triple H this year, so if he wins, I would like to see a lengthy feud starting at Summerslam 2011 at the latest.
This will allow me to become more invested in the feud and more excited for the culmination at Wrestlemania XXVIII.
Triple H vs Undertaker III anyone?
3. Use Awesome Kong to Rejuvenate the Diva Division
3 of 11
With the exception of Beth Phoenix, the Diva Division is boring and we all know it.
Thirty-second cat fight here, the Bella twins switching again—it’s all yawn-worthy.
Bring in Awesome Kong, however, and you have a force that the Divas have not seen in a long time.
This could create interesting storylines and feuds for the Divas, and prevent the fast-forwarding and toilet breaks that occur during these matches.
4. Build Mid-Card Superstars More Effectively
4 of 11
Let’s face it, there is too much emphasis on the two world titles and not enough on the intercontinental and U.S. title belts.
Superstars who are expected to be big draws are rushed through this mid-card sequence and shoved straight into the world title picture (Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus).
We need more development of characters before we can be invested in them and the mid-card titles are the way to go.
5. Unify the World Titles and the Brands
5 of 11
Treating the brands as two separate entities no longer works in my opinion.
There is too much to take in and too many superstars. Good wrestlers are being left out because of the constant focus on world titles.
If they were to be unified then the mid card would once again become more relevant and SmackDown would be treated less like the B show as it would have all superstars on it.
6. Make SmackDown Noticeably Different
6 of 11
If the brands are to remain separate however, SmackDown needs to become noticeably different.
Maybe give it an edgier presentation by making it TV-14 rather than PG.
This would invoke more interest and keep both audiences happy as the kids could still watch Raw and the adults would be satisfied with the more risqué themes in SmackDown.
Alternatively, keep superstars exclusive! Don't have them appearing on the other shows.
Thus people will be more likely to tune in to both shows to see all the superstars.
7. Build Sheamus Back Up to Championship Material
7 of 11
Sheamus was the only quickfire champion to really grab my attention, and I was invested in Sheamus as a Celtic Warrior.
He demolished Triple-H, defeated John Cena in a tables match, the world was his oyster.
Then that was all stripped from him and he is now a glorified jobber.
Not enough people are going after the WWE title at the moment and he could quite easily be one of them.
He is exciting in the ring and has a lot to offer.
WWE needs to recognize this and get him back in the hunt.
8. Get Rid of Gimmicky Pay-Per-Views
8 of 11
Gimmick matches used to be used very effectively back in the Attitude era.
But then WWE decided it would be a good idea to shove these matches down our throats until we were longing for a pay-per-view full of just...well...normal matches.
I’m fine with the frequency of them, they just need to make the gimmick matches mean something again.
Oh yeah, and change the name of them; it can’t be that hard to think of an inventive PPV name.
9. Make John Morrison a Main Event Star
9 of 11
Morrison is clearly the next big thing.
He brings an athletic edge to the company and would be great as WWE champion.
He has impressed me at every pay-per-view as of late and when he wasn’t on Raw the week before last I was set to have a tantrum.
He generates excitement and I believe he would be a huge draw if WWE continues his push after Wrestlemania.
I really hope he wins MITB—if there is one and he is in it.
10. Bring Back Good Ol’ J.R.
10 of 11
Bring back the voice of Monday Night Raw, Jim Ross—at least in some capacity.
I would be more than happy if he just commentated on the pay-per-views as that would be more than enough to make me buy them.
I know it is a long shot, but I’m pretty sure the WWE universe is getting fed up with the state of commentary at the moment.
On a side note, I feel Josh Matthews is showing signs of becoming a good commentator.
