Boston Celtics 99, Los Angeles Clippers 92: Introducing the Jeff Green Era
As the Celtics headed into the locker room at halftime, events appeared to be playing out similar to Thursday night's game against the Denver Nuggets. Trailing the Clippers 40-47, the Celtics were in need of a boost of energy—they got one.
Coming out of the half, the Celtics took the game to the Clippers. By the end of the third quarter, a seven-point deficit became a six-point lead. The Celtics outscored their opponent 34-21 in the quarter, with Paul Pierce tallying 12 points himself.
The fourth period was a relatively even quarter, and the Celtics outscored the Clippers by a point (25-24) to wrap up a seven-point victory at 99-92.
Pierce led LA with 24 points, while Ray Allen followed close behind with 22. Kevin Garnett chipped in a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
On the opposite end of the court, Randy Foye was the high scorer of the game with 32 points. Blake Griffin was able to add another dunk to his highlight real, and he chipped in with 21 points to be the Clippers' second leading scorer in a losing effort
The beginning of the Jeff Green era got off to a sluggish start. Green managed just seven points and one board in 16 minutes. After a bad first half, he appeared to be settling down in the second.
But, it was the other piece of Thursday’s trade with the Thunder that was the surprise. Nenad Krstic, getting the start at center, had nine points on the night with six rebounds, but those boards all came on the offensive end.
