NFL: Time for a makeover on our Officials
Well, after a number of goofs today in several games(not just the Raiders, go look at the Giants' game too), it's become obvious, that while we try to have both honest and fair refs.....
It just isn't happening.
You have various problems. One man can't keep his eyes on 11 other players. As well, just like Supreme Court Justices, you might have different interpretation of the rules. And then to top it off, if you show the wrong play to 10 people, you might get 10 different responses.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The biggest problem that has arisen, is that originally, the ref's job was to make the game fair between the offense and defense. 11 players on each side, playing to the best of their ability. For odd reasons, in close games, one bad call, one bad look, or even one hasty choice, can mean winning or losing to a team.
Don't believe me?
If a player steps out of bounds, going down the sidelines, on a touchdown run. If he's not called for stepping out of bounds, that's 6 points that could turn a game.
A pass that's caught, and the player is tagged when down, then fumbles the ball. Instead of having possession, the other team will have control, and most importantly, momentum.
Or even the hardest one to work with, is Pass Interference. What's one man's pass interference, is another man's offensive pass interference. A lot of times, it all depends on where you're playing.
Sure, the refs, the Unions, and even they highly paid stuffed suits will tell you, the system is fine as it stands.
It's not.
Even with the challenge system in play, what happens if you have multiple mistakes in one game?
Or, for that matter....say the Ref is the one that's blown the call. If he's already blown it once, what's to stop him from repeated errors?
To this end, I'm wondering about a few rules that could be drawn up, to both purify the officiating at games....and as well, since some of these refs might have more on their mind( Mr Hochuli for example, is a lawyer):
Every year in the offseason, every ref has to spend a month in a hard learning enviroment, to make sure all refs are on the same page. Refs failing this, will be terminated.
Refs will no longer be allowed to practice tenure, as since rules change so often, after a shorter term, 5 or 10 years, they'll have to retire.(most of these refs seem to do this as a part time job anyway)
Refs that have blown a call, that ranks as truly mind-boggling, will be suspended until an investigation takes place. If found guilty, termination will be immediate.
And as well, each year, a standard test, along with the schooling, will ensure that vision, hearing, comprehension, and intelligence will be given.
If the Union doesn't like it, fine.
Send them back to the College Ranks.
No more mistakes.....these games have millionaires playing....and if one goof-up costs a team a season....then that ref's career shouldn't influence it.
