NFL Week Three Predictions

Nathan VenegasSep 19, 2008

Carolina at Minnesota

With backs like Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor, there’s no reason they shouldn’t amass 200+ rushing yards per game. The switch at quarterback probably won’t shake up their passing game right away, especially with Bernard Berrian nursing a bad foot.

The Panthers are sky high after winning two tough games without their start wideout, Steve Smith, who rejoined the team this week. Jonathan Stewart needs to have a big game if the Panthers are going to survive this week. The Vikings need to avoid turnovers to make it out of this one.

New Orleans at Denver

This is going to be a fun one to watch. Jay Cutler looks like he’s found his rhythm, and he’s got one of the best offensive minds in Mike Shannahan supporting him. The difference will be, as with most Saints games, Reggie Bush.

Look for Shockey to break out and have a big game. It’ll be interesting to see how the Broncos come out after their controversial win last week. The Saints prevail in shootout fashion.

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia

I’m curious to see what Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson has up his sleeve for the Steelers. These teams match up pretty well on offense, but Pittsburgh gets the edge on defense. This young season has already had its share of NFC over AFC upsets, which ends here.

Dallas at Green Bay

Ryan Grant doesn’t look like he’ll be 100 percent in time for this game, which puts the game on the shoulders on Aaron Rodgers. He’ll have to out perform Tony Romo and the high-powered Cowboys. It comes down to how the Packers' secondary isolates T.O.

Marion Barber looks to be feeling the hurt from being a full-time running back in the NFL.

Arizona at Washington

With Kurt Warner at the reins, the Cardinals' offense is looking as good on the field as it has on paper. Two stud wide receivers, a reliable running back, and now a crafty veteran QB leading the way. Unless the Cardinals implode, which they’ve been known to do, the Redskins will have a hard time matching up, score for score.
